Yeah, well, if Ish Smith, Patrick Patterson, and Jermaine Taylor want minutes, I'm not sure complaining is going to help them out much.
We balanced our way straight to blowing a 10 point lead. They pulled him because its the preseason and they are being cautious. Same reason they pulled the rest of the starters. That won't happen come the regular season. Simple as that. You are thinking too hard.
Courtney Lee needs minutes. Battier has too many i say. Budinger and Lee play alot more and Battiers minutes should go down. Martin, Brooks, Lee, Budinger, Lowry should get the most minutes out of any players. Battiers should go down if any player. Martins the most minutes next up Brooks, then Budinger, then Lee, then Lowry. On some nights Lowry gets alot of minutes if Brooks has trouble with bigger point guards.
Im not thinking too hard, you're just assuming i'm coming up with all of this based on one preseason game and i'm not. It definitely adds to my reasoning, but it's not the driving force behind them. There was plenty talk during the off season of the extra flexibility they'd have with the acquisition of Lee, especially when defense was needed at 2 and maybe even the 1. With Lee in the mix now it gives them that option, whether we like it or not. If they've done it to scola, why wouldnt they do it to Martin? Even Yao has had his moments where he's taken out. Bud's been yanked out when he's on fire, but they need defense. I don't see why it's so difficult to believe they'd do it to Martin as well, possible even more, since the backcourt D is weaker with martin/brooks back there. Don't make too much about what i'm saying...i dont know how often it'll happen. It could happen every other game or once or twice a month. There's too many possible variations of game situations/stretches for me to predict that with any certainty. What is certain is that it will happen at some point, so i hope Martin just let a worthless comment slip out, because if he really has a problem with it now he'll have a problem later as well.
Then, the injury bug hits the Rockets, AS ALWAYS, we start to lose some games that we shoudn't and pretty soon are on the outside looking in irt to playoffs. No thank you!
I didnt say value, but his production. Not the same. One is refering to potential and the other is refering to what actually has happened. That's a reason not to refer to him as the "closer type".
He's just marking his territory. NBD. I'm more concerned about Hill and Patterson not getting enough minutes to develop their game.
I will love when Martin hits a buzzer beater for the win during the season, and people will label him as our finisher... People love to give labels to players, Martin doesn´t have great numbers on 4th quarters during his career, so he will never be decent 4th quarter guy, AB played bad D during his career so far, so he will never be a decent defender Stop labeling players man, Martin will have a career year this year, if you saw the preseason, you saw Martin pretty much in control on offense, not rushing anything, and waisting energy on DEFENSE, the same exact thing you saw from AB. These 2 guys displayed great shot selection (AB still sometimes shoots those 40ft shots with still 24s n the shot clock), and they were running on D using the quickness they have... And believe me, I don´t mean to say they are great on D, all I am saying is that you can see them, controlling the energy level on O, so they can play better D. To finish my point I will only say this, I know it is preseason, and I know that Scola is probably the most beloved Rocket because he plays hard, but in my opinion, he was the worst Rocket player out there (considering the expectations I had) his D, is worst then both Martin and AB, and this says a lot about the improvement you can see on both AB and Martin on the defense end of the floor, but hey, it´s preseason And by the way, I didnt see Martin venting anything. And as DD said, we have too many GOOD players, use them GOD Morey, before the seasons starts..... PeAcE
The franchise player isn't even playing back-to-backs and only half a game the rest of the time. Guys are going to need to get used to instability. I doubt the team will ever really be "in sync" for most of the year. Besides, maybe the coaches are worried Martin will break before the season starts. He's certainly not the most durable guy out there.
I like Kevin Martin's attitude. I believe he will have his best defensive year this year with the Rockets.
It's not just that, you want to give the guys on the bubble a chance to prove themselves not just to the Rockets but to the entire league. It's professional courtesy.
That was definitely NOT venting. Looks like the Chronicle is going with the traditional method of improving circulation... get people excited about nothing.
Martin is the Tiger in the cage in the first regular season game they are going to let him loose, he is going into attack mode. Hopefully to the other team and not us. Like a previous poster ( Sweet Lou) said you have to let the bubble players learn and improve themselves not matter how painful it is to the fans and other players. There could be some more of this in the first dozen games but not in the 4th quarter unless we have a heck of a lead. Also they maybe showing some of the players for future trades.
Naw, I read a few Kings boards around the time Martin's name was being shopped around to get a feel for the player we might get and most of the criticism form him was that they said the same thing that he tends to fade in the 4th quarter.
