It's going to take more than Shane to keep us together. This team is going to as far as Yao Ming can take us. That's a fact, whether one likes it or not.

The huddle is an extension of the court....not just locker room stuff.

The flack he got was on clutchfans...i doubt he changed his play to make this board happy.

and you mentioned two games, but point to the wolves as the reason why. Why didnt you mention the spurs too? humm...

And Martin must not be paying attention, clutchfans is raving about how it was ish smith's beautifully organized offense that brought cohesion and turned this team around in the face of adversity!

Battier always starts playing aggressive when we have injuries. It would be great if he played this way when we had a full team.

Yep, ever since AB went down, he has turned it up a notch. He's a true leader, I just hope his aggressiveness continues.

RV6 i think the Spurs game was an obvious ommission. We lost that game too. Guys on the bench have an extension to the locker room yes. Same ability to keep it together benched as you do starting. The only problem is starting? You can effect the outcome of the game with your play bad or good. He had two good games and we lost one of them. Won against Twolves. Ipress me with a 6 game winning streak to erase the 0-5 hole your hero got us into while starting. Then come back and expoud his virtues if he had a large enough role in those games. Until then i am not buying the bridge your selling me. Just like the team couldnt sell me Yao for all of these years. Its a hoax. Its the man behind the curtain scenario with some of you. I will play along for my team. I just realize the weaknesses and strengths and cant be baited and switched as easily as others.

I'm among those who like Shane a lot and think his place on this team is deserved, and I'd hate to see him go.

Still, I have to admit that when he "goes up for a dunk in anger" (as Stack24 put it), he's not thinking, "I'm MAD!" -- he's thinking, "I need to pretend like I'm really mad here so the team will get going."

I've commented on this a few times before, but I really think as cliche as it sounds, Battier is the glue that holds this team together. This team goes the way Battier does. When Battier plays in an attacking and aggressive style full of urgency, the Rockets historically do well.
Points to note about Battier:

    1) He is still the best post entry passer on the team. He is the only one patient enough to post and re-post Yao effectively.
    2) When he's actually looking for his shot he makes our offensive unit unguardable. When defenses actually have to respect Shane's three point shot it leads to a lot of easy shots for Yao/Martin
    3) He is the only true vocal leader on this team. Guys respect him. When he leads by example, the team follows suit. See last two games as evidence
    4) He is still the best defender on this team. Playing him and Lee together is a great defensive combo. They are both excellent team defenders and Battier still knows where to be at the right time, while Lee's athleticism allows him to gamble.
Simply put, I think Battier is the cog that holds everything together. The problem lately has been a lack of confidence, or maybe perhaps too much deference to other teammates by shane. He needs to look for his shot offensively and keep our defense active. A lot of pressure rests on Shane's shoulders, but he has shown the ability to elevate his game in the past. During the 22 win streak and the second round Lakers series two years ago, Shane was huge. He needs to be more aggressive, and the Rockets will follow.

Continue to impress. Then expound the virtues of Battier when we have more than two wins at least. Not just wins and give Battier credit, but wins he had a hand in substantially. Then point to the points in the game where it was Battier specifically. After 1 win. Is a small sample size I have been told by stats experts, and NBA team building gurus on the interwebz... That have built multiple Championships on NBA 2k for PS3.

We don't need Shane dunking. I want to see him knock down wild open corner three pointer.

so i guess coaches dont deserve credit for wins either, right? Gotta get them to score some actual points first.

Then you would be complaining why Battier doesn't pass it to AB or Yao.
