I was thinking the same thing; why not announce the Sura cut also, unless there is still potential to use his contract. Your Sura/Snder package has some value. Would it bring a third string center?
The reason the Sura cut wasn't announced was because he was not practicing with the team. For those who didn't hear Rick Adelman on the Channel 2 News clip posted in another thread, let me make this clear: JOHN LUCAS III AND JACKIE BUTLER HAVE NOT YET BEEN WAIVED. They were merely excused from practice pending further moves by the front office. That move (as opposed to waiving them) gives the team another two days to try to move one of them in a trade. JLIII and Butler can still be traded before Monday, when they are due to be waived if nothing happens. The same thing with Sura. Also, I really doubt that Sura's contract will be traded unless it is in a package for a legit rotation player who, in Les Alexander's mind, could put the Rockets over the top. Otherwise, trading Sura instead of cutting him will cost the Rockets over $5.6M.
