I agree if we can get Artest along with Cook and Singleton then we are set !! Plus if Wells would get his fat ass in shape we'd be the team to beat in the West... You'd have 3 all-stars on one team ( T-Mac, Yao and Artest) plus great role players and James and Alston to run the offense with T-Mac running it at times. We won 52 games last year with Yao and T-Mac missing some games. I honestly believe we could have won 8 more games with them healthy making it a 60 win season. The good thing is at least we know that the Rockets are making changes and thats good because what we had before wasn't working.... WHATS UP GATER hows life in T-Town at Sorges piano man
I don't like the trade, however, you can't judge it based on the other fans sentiment alone. Their opinion of our player is skewed to the head-to-head games, and I distinctly remember a facial on Rony Turiaf that made Luther look very Kobe-sque
To me anyway, the thing with Novak is that his defense is HORRENDOUS... Cook's D may be bad, but no so bad that he would get regularly embarrassed on the block by even 3rd-string PFs in this league. 258 pounds is a long way off from Novak's 220.
The Singleton trade would help us. He's got good size we could use his hustle. I'd hate to give up on V-span and I'd hate to see him play for the Mavs even worse, but if the word is he may not even come back to the U.S. trade him for the Mavs second round pick. Head for Cook straight up would be getting robbed by the Lakers. They'd have to throw in their 1st round pick or maybe a Maurice Evans for us to get anywhere near equal value for Head. Head's is a small 2 guard, but he was still one of our best players last year. We can't part with him for Cook just because we need a big.
They are going after Ron Lewis mark my words and if they are getting rid of Luhter Head this will make a lot of sense basically getting a better version of him.

As I got into my car this morning I heard on the radio "The Houston rockets are in a trade rumor with LA this morning... the rumored deal is luther Head for Bryan[ME SCREAMING O YES O YES O YES]." o wait did he just say cook? not kobe? o damn
IMO, those are some brain dead trade ideas. They need to hire some clutchfans, we can do better than that.
if you read my post, you'd know i wasn't for the trade straight up. head being neither a pg (not a good ball handler, passer) or sg (not big enough) is one of the biggest reasons why i don't think he's a good fit for us. we already have depth at pg/sg, especially if bonzi returns.
If we want Sean Williams we will take him at 26, assuming hes still there. But there are some 2nd round PFs that could contribute in their first year: Ikene Ibekwe, Ryvon Carver, etc. I'm in favor of trading Vspan for a 2nd rounder, unless were going to trade him in a package deal for Ron Artest or something.
I think Cook for Head is fairly even. They both are fairly 1 dimesional and inadequate starters but solid back-ups. If we could swap draft position it would be a nobrainer. I used to think Cook sucks, but I have been mildly surprised when I saw him play, Cook brings excellent 3 shooting and is an OK rebounder/shotblocker given his minutes. Head scoring/production looks better, but remember he was the only Houston guard who can shoot and played more than he would have for anyone else. The Lakers were much deeper in power forwards and thus Cook's PT is a lot less--but he isn't bad the time he gets. Swap 1st rounders and I'd definetly be solid. The other deals seem OK. JL3 has pretty much little chance to contribute, why not try someone else. I don't mind VS for an early to mid 2nd. But the idea to Dallas concerns me.
Cook is a legit NBA player (albeit 7th man type). Cook doesn't play terrible defense (he is average), isn't a terrible rebounder (average) and isn't completely physically overmatched like Novak.
I'm guessing any "scoop" the Rockets are letting Lopez in on would be either ones that they have no intention of actually happening mixed with ones that are compeletely irrelevant.
Hmm, Lakers fans seem to think they would rape us in that rumored Head trade. I agree.... http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=43640
