I say don't trade VSPAN...let him stay in Greece... V-Span will never be a star. He's not willing to do what it takes to win. He's more interested in playing time then being a good player. No heart, no soul. Has talent but it's a waste of talent. He thinks because he had a good game in the Olympics against the U.S. that he can take on the NBA. That arrogance will be his downfall.
Realistically, why would you expect the Roxs brass to put more effort into this situation than they already have? The coach and GM have called him and tried to let him know that they'd like him back. Why exactly is he owed more than that?
show that you are fully committed to wanting him back on the team. just calling doesnt cut it. thats like calling your gf and telling her u want to breakup. do it in person rather than over the phone
I'm sure they have spoken to him in person many times. However, the fact is that he is just not worth it. He's a scrub in this league and he has been conditioned to be a prima donna overseas. It's not a good combination. If we could snag an early second round pick for him in this deep draft, it would be a steal.
You drama queen. The Rockets have the best center in the game and a top 5 wing player. They will make the playoffs.
People are underestimating Brian Cook yes hes not the greatest role-player out there but hes a good fit. he and Yao will compliment each other well.
i agree. though, i'm not sure about a trade for head straight up, cook hasn't played many minutes his career. 3.3 rebs in about 15 mins means he can avg 6+ if given about 25-30 minutes a game. his three point shot is deadly and he has a really quick shooting motion. i think he is a decent fit for us and can help to spread the floor.
first off the salaries don't match, and to make the situation more difficult Cook becomes a BYC player this season. this hardly the kind've deal you want to blow sura's expiring on to just to match when you're already giving up more talent in the exchange. the more I think about this trade the less it makes sense. we already have novak who offers the same dimension and plays just as soft of D as cook does. I think j-lo just wants some attention...hes more annoying than fran
head for cook may make me puke. we already have a 6'10 3 pt shooter who cant rebound or play defense...novak.
I'm fine with any of the trades, but not particularly thrilled about any of them... JLIII for Singleton -- why not? No use at all for JLIII, might as well add some height/hustle/athleticism. Head for Cook -- not my ideal trade, I'd rather see Head packaged for a better player... I thought his value would be higher... but Cook's skill-set is essentially the same as Head's -- shooting. Head is in a terribly packed position on our team and we really have no use for him anymore unfortunately. I'm not impressed with Cook's rebounding or defense but at least he could play the part and stretch the defense for us a bit. Span for 2nd Rounder -- who cares... if he doesn't want to be here, take what you can get
i dont think so. its hard to throw away everything he's done for 2 years because of 7 games...especially for a young guy in his first playoffs.
a big resounding NO TO COOK. Didn't we just get rid of Juwan Howard? Do we need another soft, slow, non-rebounder/shot blocker PF? What are they thinking? You don't need a computer to tell you Cook blows. Plus his contract is nasty. Go get Sean Williams in the draft for all I care, whatever he might be would be better than Cook. My advice is to go for Amir Johnson, sign that guy for the MLE. He's young, quick, athletic, and can rebound plus block shots. A much much better option than Cook a.k.a Juwan Howard II.
Of course, these are the trades (real or bogus) that someone leaked to Lopez. If they're real, they don't preclude other deals (or parts of these deals) that he wasn't told. If they're bogus, it could be smoke to hide something else we might have going on. If Brian Cook is gonna be BYC, then how can that trade happen before the draft? If he's BYC now, the trade would have to be larger than it is now. Stay tuned, I guess.
Someone said earlier that the Rockets brass know VSpan is NBA material, thus trying to get him to come back. If they trade him to Dallas, they've exhausted all of their possibilities to get him to come back and at that point it's just a contract that they're trading away. I highly doubt they'd send his contract to Dallas, knowing he wants to play in the NBA. Someone else mentioned too, that he would have trouble getting time behind their guards there, too, which means it's probably a salary move for them. But I thought they could draft anybody in the second round and they can cut them it they don't make the team, right? If that's the case they may want him to convince him to come back over.
Have you guys noticed the main people that are in favor of the Head/Cook trade are a newly joined Rookie named Brian and a poster named LakersPride ?
Someone needs to stake out the hotbed for rockets inside info: Starbucks then maybe we can get a confirmation from j-lo on this. actually since it's lopez a McDonalds or Taco Bell might be a better place to look. now that I think about it that's probably where his contact works.
