if we make a deal for Artest, it most likely will be agreed to (but not done) before draft day. If not, the Rockets cannot afford to kill time waiting for Sacramento to make ups its mind.
WTF!??!! This is the best we can come up with???? HELL NO to the Vspan deal HELL NO to the luther deal
Brian Cook will be a HUGE mistake to give up our asset Luther this early... Use luther to move up the draft, or at least get someone decent back... NOT COOK "3 PT CHUCKER"
The Lucas-Singleton deal would be a no brainer simply for the overall gain in size and athleticism. How about something like this? Houston Trades: Bob Sura Luther Head #26 pick LA Trades: Vladamir Radmanovic #19 pick
perhaps giving up v-span for so little signifies that he has suggested he doesn't intend to return to the rockets. just a guess...but in this years draft I would gladly take an early 2nd for essentially nothing if v-span doesn't come back. luther for cook is iffy. cook is one of those players that lights us up every time we face him, but overall has really poor numbers. at the same time if the team seems intent on dealing luther it probably means bonzi is returning next year, in which case luther would be nailed to the bench behind tons of fun and mike james. I guess management is assuming the quantity over quality approach at the pf position. on a positive note these moves would distribute the depth on our team pretty evenly...we could focus our MLE money and pick on the best available player instead of spreading out our assets because we need to fill mutliple positions.
dang, if v-span was concerned about playing time in Houston, imagine how much hed get in dallas. I think v-span is now getting use to idea that he is not coming back to NBA, if he is aware of the rumour
I don't like this why not a package for a one man deal we are not getting anything in return, really Span wants to rather play with the greek team than summer league, It's understandable, the summer league is not even close to the national team, especially the greek! Singleton for Lucas, mehhh, same crap, Head for Cook, yea right, that sounds like an upgrade horrible trades, seriously
Only deal that I wouldn't mind is JL3 for Singleton, I like Lucas a lot but he is very much expendable. I wouldn't mind picking up a 2nd Rounder for V-Span but NO WAY do I want to see him in a Mavs uni. If the Rockets liked his potential so much that they would give him a 3 year deal right off the back, I don't want that potential in our rivals uni. I think Head for Cook deal is a wash (talent wise) but I want a PF that can rebound and block, I would rather keep Head.
I say yes to the first two, no to the last one. The Rockets should trade away Billy, who obviously doesn't want to be here for the 34th pick in this year's draft. The Rockets can pick up someone servicable at that spot. As for the second trade, Singleton is a player that does a lot of the dirty work and hustles. JL3 isn't going to get much playing time and the Rockets need bigger players on the roster. Regarding Luther Head for Brian Cook, HN! The guy can shoot but he doesn't crash the boards well enough for a big man.
Since Dallas and Houston are both way over the cap, I don't see how a VSpan for a 2nd rounder can work. There has to be somebody closely matching VSpan's salary returned to Houston and a 2nd rounder included. I say this is just something written in a column to get people talking.
... if we make these deals ... we can forget even making the playoffs ... much less becoming contenders. How in the world do these moves help us?
this might have been posted already but I am in a hurry. I read on Hoopsworld(Not entirely reliable) that Cook and Head straight up would not work and would have to involve 4 players. Something that would work would be Head and Wells for Cook, Sasha Vujacic and maybe the Lakers first round (19), or a second round(40/48) draft pick. This is just speculation by the author, but I would be very intrigued by this. We need another pick, and Wells is most likely gone if not before this season definitely next free agent period. Cook can shoot, Vujacic is a tall PG with decent talent, and even a 2nd round pick would be great. I would do this, but many would not. Oh well, it's just speculation anyway.
Forget making the playoffs? We're talking about 2 garbage time players and a backup SG. These moves might not help us but they certainly wouldn't hurt us all that much, if any.
Ah, yes. The time of year when we begin to realize that the scraps we were thinking of trading for an all-star will barely buy us a ham sandwich.
lmao. the anti-xmas. IMO all of these deals are a wash talent wise. 1. billy to DAL...only for the #34. otherwise let him waste. 2. lucas for singleton...why not get bigger and more athletic? 3. head for cook...another wash of spot up shooters. except we need a PF, and one that spreadts the floor, rebounds a bit, and can post a little is good for me. yao-deke-#26 hayes-cook-singleton shane-novak-reed tmac-bonzi-snyder rafer-james-#34
Cato + Mobes + Moochie for Kobe. Cato = top 10 center Mobes = top 10 sg Moochie = top 3 fro Kobe doesn't get along with Shaq. trade accepted.
