That's who I'm refering to. It's just my new Parsellian way of talking about a team that's almost dead to me.
I don't think it's that likely. When you get down to it, the only "game managers" who've won super bowls in the last decade or so are Roethlisberger and Trent Dilfer. And both of those teams did so with a punishing running game and stunningly good defenses.
Without a doubt. In terms of what you are saying though, those types of characteristics, for the most part, will have the most impact from the single most important position on the field, right? As for the original comment, the things "aside" that I was refering to was Smith's abilities throwing and running the football as well as seeing the field.
I think the only FA QB we'll target is Plummer, so I wouldn't worry about Rattay or Garcia. But I think Plummer would be a much bigger upgrade from Carr, don't forget that a lot of analysts had Denver going to the Super Bowl this season with Plummer at QB. Losing Kubiak proved to be horrible for both Plummer and the Broncos offense. Hopefully reuiniting the 2 could bring back what Plummer did 2 seasons ago. As for as Troy Smith goes, I like him a lot...he has good mobility to go with a good arm, I'm not too worried about his height. However...I don't think he is worth a Top 5 pick, if he were to fall to the 2nd, it would be a no brainer.
If the Texans do not draft Kevin Kolb then they are not REAL HOUSTONIANS and I will boycott them for not picking a REAL HOUSTONIAN and a PROVEN CONFERENCE USA WINNER in the draft
If the Texans do not draft him, I will become a lifelong fan of the team that does draft him! GO *insert city name sports team here*!
What a slap to the organization that they signed Carr to an extension...gave him all this money, in a year he may be gone and VY was there for the taken...practically begging to be a Texan and youe have been embraced like a Hakeem and Earl. It would have been a love affair for years to come between Houston and Young. What a shame. I HATE Casserly and Reeves!!!!!!! What A-Holes!!!!!
Gosh, do you think we can do it? I'm thinking yes. I like the San Diego draft reference. Didn't they take LT and Brees the same year? It would be nice to take AP and Smith/Kolb the same year. At least we would have something to look forward to, watching them both develop (along with Mario). I see no problem with signing a servicable QB to steer the boat until the new QB is ready. If that guy is Plummer, so be it. The Texans can still be very good with an average QB. He doesn't have to be a Pro Bowler.
I think getting AP in the first round would be ideal, and in the second if TS is there I would certainly consider him. I would also give some thought to Drew Stanton from MSU. I think he would be an excellent fit in the "Denver" system and he should definitely be available at the top of the second round. He is a big guy, great mobility, and seems to have a good arm.
