Carr is gone IMO, there is nothing left for him in Houston. With that said, it sounds like Plummer is our guy. I know it's early but Kubiak knows Plummer and I doubt we go with a rookie QB next season. A first rounder for Schaub is out of the question IMHO, Plummer just seems like the best fit right now.

With that said, I think we'll pick up a QB somewhere in the draft. I like Smith and Kolb but it's almost impossible to tell where they'll be available. Hopefully Kolb will be there in the 3rd, but he could definitely shoot up the boards like Cutler did last summer. I've read things that have Smith going in the Top 5 to the Raiders, I've read things that don't have him in the 1st round, it's so hard to tell right now.

I would love for our summer to start off with signing Plummer, drafting AD or Branch, Michael Griffin in the 2nd, and Kolb in the 3rd.

Why do people keep referring to Culpepper as immobile. He rushes for over 400 yrds almost every year

Because he's nowhere near the runner he was a couple years back, he's also had 2 major injuries the past 2 seasons which will further hinder his running ability.

The texans had Mr. Right(Vince) in their laps last year and they found a way to screw it up. You would think the second GM in franchise history would learn from past mistakes, but only time will tell. Granted, other than that pick, they had a solid draft, but that was the only good draft in franchise history so far, which is why they suck.

Smith was hired after the draft so we'll see how he fairs this draft, but I doubt the GM had much influence on who they were picking last summer anyways. It was McNair's decision to pass on VY IMO, it was Kubiak's decision to pass on Bush.

But being one of the biggest VY fans on this board, I think it's time to move on. This is about who our next QB is going to be, not who it should have been.

The problem is QB's in FA are 9/10 times all journeyman types. Tim Rattay? Jake Plummer(after this season)? These are retreads, average QB's who will help the texans minimally at best.

The other problem is because of their inept drafting until last year, the texans have to debate other needs over say Troy Smith with their 1st round pick.

They are going to have a hard time moving up in the AFC in the next few years with the situation they have created for themselves. It's very similar to the Browns and how they had that one year they made the playoffs, otherwise they have been one of the worst teams in football, but not bad enough to get the difference makers they need to improve.

If we're gonna have a few more losing seasons, we may as well pickup a rookie or young QB we can build around. That was the whole point of drafting VY this year, but everyone figured we needed to take a shot at the super-bowl this year by drafting mario lol

I think in addition to looking for Mr. Right, the Texans should take a chance on a Mr. Right Now. May I introduce him? The "Round Mound of Touchdown", Bruce Eugene.

    LMAO...Nice...

I agree, Plummer will be our guy, but would love to have Kolb as a 2nd or 3rd rounder...

I take exception to this. Retread, average quarterbacks have won Super Bowls. Jake Plummer would be fine. The Texans need to build their team up front and in the secondary. I would not waste another high pick on a quarterback until the offensive line is assembled that won't get a young QB killed. I think the Texans are close to being a pretty good defensive team. It doesn't take much offensive firepower to win in the NFL if the defense is stout, so I don't think the future is as dire as you do.

It would be nice to see the pro football team do something similar to San Diego's 2001 draft.

    1st Round: Adrian Peterson
    2nd Round: Troy Smith

You want them to win you over. You want to feel something. Splitting hairs, but impressive drafts and selecting the QB you wanted were your own prerequisites. To me, the fact that you care at all means that you are a fan (real, bonafide, "TRUE", yadahyadahyadah notwithstanding).

and you're right...the VY situation is like the love of my life marrying my best friend. (with apologies to those i had lunch with)

Nah, no chance. Not with this pro football team. I think the key to getting Adrian Peterson and maybe Troy Smith is to lose out. Losing to the Browns in the final week could be very pivotal in as to who lands one or possibly both of those players. It seems to me that the Browns and the pro football team here have similar needs and the two teams could be targeting both AD and Troy Smith.

Who knows though, really. There is still alot of time left for things still to be determined. I mean Troy could have an outstanding championship game and then go on to have an excellent Senior Bowl and combine and raise his value into the first round, and subseqently put him out of the pro football team's reach with their second pick. The knock on Smith has never been about his qb play, but rather circling around his height. But with Drew Brees performing at MVP levels, at roughly the same height, some teams may not look to much into that, you know.

Smith kind of reminds me nice cross between a Vince Young and a Drew Brees. He semingly has a little bit of the Vince "mojo" while possessing a Brees-like body and passing ability.

I like that draft. Smith isn't spectaculer, but he is a proven winner who knows how to lead a team.

Everything else aside, there is nothing the pro football team needs more than this right here.
