The problem would be that Morey overrates his assets. He hit a home run last year but might have to settle for a sacrifice bunt this year. Tick, tock, Morey.
So was Deron Williams the "impact player" Morey had referred to? Down to the single option of a trade for high pick now or was that a Brooks to the Nets deal?
It would seem as if Utah is going to be sexiest team out there before the deadline ends. They have tons of assets and several bigs to potentially move.
Martin would have complemented Yao really well. Morey was building a team for players that he had to build around. Imagine a healthier Tmac Martin and Yao combo.
Perhaps, but I like the fact that it focuses much more on defense, size, and athleticism. The only weak link on D would be Martin, but we would obviously need his scoring. Plus, you'd have T-Will, Patterson, and Hayes coming off the bench for D and for certain matchups.
at this point, a small progress is meaningless if our target is a title. the current team is miles miles and miles away from that goal. the roster you proposed is no better.
@chrismannix:Houston still working on multiple scenarios but there's nothing imminent on Rockets front. Very aggressive though.
I guess that is why Utah is the sexiest team right now come trade deadline. Okur, Kirilinko, Milsap and Jefferson.
I don't think so, Deron would be more of a "franchise player." Gerald Wallace and Josh Smith are more of what I would call impact players. Plus, in that deal, Deron would have been traded to Sacramento. Maybe Cousins was the "impact player" that Morey was referring to? I agree that Brooks to NJ is not happening anymore, unless they move Farmar out in a separate deal...
so someone explain to me how yao and t-mac getting hurt makes the "assets" he's acquired underwhelming to the rest of the league.
there are teams showing interested but those teams are contenders. they do have superstars but would you expect them to dump their stars to rox?
Because we didn't tank. We kept thinking Yao and Mac would get back. We have been stuck in the middle building a team around Yao. We traded for Martin to play with Yao. We got Scola for nothing and Lee for nothing. The assets being tossed around are good young players and draft picks.
this is fun. 3 way deal with dallas and charlotte, i really think it works out for all three teams. rockets want wallace, dallas wants sjax. charlotte wants cap space. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4lhd8zj
