TMAC came here to play with YAO MING YAO MING knows that and assuming he's a nice guy, will try his best to play harder and better. he should also know about the KOBE-SHAQ DUO last year and saw how great they were, hes not going to quit anytime soon. you 'trade-yao-haters' are all ignorant and probably not a rockets fan anyway. lanqui, you are a crackhead, please try to counter me with a statement saying how YAO MING 'feels' with your 'mind reading ESP' that you use on him.
I thought Barrett was 5-10..and Boykins 5-5...and Barrett does have vision and production...the shot is comin Yeah I agree with rvpals..I have faith in Yao..we know whwat he can do..he did suck last night..but I really have never seen JVG fight.. That's why I loved Steve and Cat and Cato..they seemed to have passion and enthusiasm..even though they didn't always play smart..lol we just need a 4 with yao..a boozer or kurt thomas or gooden or something SAR or Rashard? We can't get anyone..
That is really really bothering me right now. Obviously Orlando wanted to ship Gooden away, they traded him for Battie after the T-Mac trade, so why JVG and CD couldn't include him in the blockbuster deal? For your information, Gooden's stats for this season: 12.4 pts, 9.5 rebs, 50.4 FG% . He is young and athletic. Looks like a perfect fit for Yao. Why they couldn't include him in the package?
But this dude isa real professional. He worked out really hard in off season. Also, in two plus seasons, he never missed a single practice and a single game. His fault is that he is no Shaq nor Ewing. No matter how hard JVG curses him, he will never be a Shaq or Ewing.
The key is the Magic GM was doing his best to deprive TMac any help. JVG was doing his best to ship SF3 out of town. Magic side was on bargain mood. Our side was on firesale mood.
Those that say the Rockets should trade Yao right now are idiots. The NBA is not like your copy of NBA Live. The franchise would be the worst in the league if any of you ran it. I know Yao is having his troubles, but he will snap out of it and become a franchise center. He is lost, confused and is lacking some self-confidense right now. It happens, especially by someone who has made the leap in talent of leagues at an early age. In essence, he jumped from highschool to the NBA and thrust into the starting lineup and promoted as the "next" great center. This is all while going back and playing all summer. There is alot on his shoulders so there was bound to be some bumps in the road. Just ask Portland how they feel about trading a young prospect too early because he was having problems. Jermaine O'Neal is arguably the best all-around PF in the league and, I don't care how good Randolph is, I'm sure they would LOVE to have him on thier roster right now. And, yes, even over Randolph. Or ask Minnesota how happy they are now to keep Garnett around and hope he developed like they believed. STATS: Garnett (first three season) 95-96 - 10.4 PPG | 6.3 RPG | 1.64 BPG 96-97 - 17.0 PPG | 8.0 RPG | 2.10 BPG 97-98 - 18.5 PPG | 9.6 RPG | 1.83 BPG Yao (first three season) 02-03 - 13.5 PPG | 8.2 RPG | 1.79 BPG 03-04 - 17.5 PPG | 9.0 RPG | 1.90 BPG 04-05 - 17.8 PPG | 7.7 RPG | 1.33 BPG Yao is going through a rough time RIGHT NOW. It is WAY too early to give up on him.
that's ok, basketball doesn't really reuquire speed or stamina, wait that's baseball, shoot .... we're screwed. This is the single biggest problem, teams can always render our offensive focal point ineffective, how does that help the team? I hope he is traded soon.
It's funny how everybody jumps on Yao Ming's bandwagon when he scores thirty points, but when he struggles, he 's a sorry player. Has everyone forgot that he has a tear in his elbow? He's not complaining, but you can tell he is in a lot pain by the way he holds his arm when he is walking to the bench, not to mention that the brace weights ten pounds. He really should have taken time off to let the elbow heal( remember the hit that Mourning gave him in the Nets game)?
First, who said your opinion was right? Second, my rival? LOL!!!! You must be joking. You know absolutely nothing about journalism. Lopez is a columnist. It may be one thing for a beat reporter to take direct shots at a player, but not a columnist. Blinebury does it all the time. He has for years. Dale Robertson used to regularly crack on the Rockets players when he was still doing columns. This is nothing new.
Exactly, that is why he was called Fran Slimebury. He always found a way to slam the astros, oilers, or rockets. I am glad he is not writing anymore.
Does anybody else besides me find car-crash watching like magnetism about lanqui1's recent rise to prominence?
Time will tell. I lay out my opinion. JVG and Yao can't coexist. I prefer keeping Yao. But who knows what Les is thinking. Do you dare to speak your opinion out?
I don't think the current situation is to be blamed. Yao has made some 30+ points this season, while also had several games down 10. The whistle of refs is different this season. Yao needs to get used to it. What I am always confused is, when Yao being double teamed and fouled, tackled, the game is no longer a bball game. It's like a WWE show. However, we seldomly hear whistle for those obvious fouls. OK, Yao could flop everytime like this, but he rarely did so. Is it true that he is really to big to make the refs believe someone is fouling hard on him? And we've seen enough floppers drawing offensive fouls on Yao.
"Those that say the Rockets should trade Yao right now are idiots" But lots of people may think so. This paper was translated and posted in the Chinese websites and newspapers, causing lots of discussion. Many people think that Yao is going to be traded soon. Yao'team and Yao will read the news sooner or later. It will not help Yao's performance in Rox and the trade vaule if Rox wants to trade him.
Every once in a while there is that special player who steps off the high school or college court and into the NBA like he belongs there -- the instant stud. Yao just isn't that guy. He has flashes of that guy, but for now he's mostly a promise, not the fulfillment of the promise. If he has a great game next time out, it's the exception that proves the rule. The NBA is a man's league, and Yao is a boy, a really really huge boy. The reality of today's NBA is that a Young Developing Player like Yao will not pay off for the first team to sign him. It isn't his fault, he's learning and adjusting. It's just a bummer that he is not going to reach his potential while in a Rockets uniform. Barring major injury, he's going to be a great player three or four years from now, after everyone here will have lost patience. I'm not pissed off at Yao, I don't want to trade him. I do often want to scream at him "What part of be more aggressive don't you understand!" but I do think he will one day get there. It just looks like it's going to be a few years, and probably another team. Guess we'll just have to enjoy the occasional 30-point game in the mean time.
