I have read before that Les has a special affinity towards McGrady. But I'm not sure if its business-related, personal, or a belief in building around two stars (a la Dream and Clyde). Even if the owner wasn't putting any pressure on keeping McGrady, I have a feeling he still would be a Rocket. They seem convinced that as long as he and Yao stayed healthy that's a strong core for a championship-level team. That's where I think they erred -- assuming health.

I really don't buy the argument that T-Mac's got physical issues. How many doctors examined him and found absolutely nothing?

Regardless, Les' myopia has probably doomed the Rockets this year and maybe next.

I wouldn't say its a love affair, but we must upgrade the PG position if we ever want to improve. Hinrich is the best available PG that we could realistically get.

No structural damage = "absolutely nothing" in my book.

I don't agree with that, but I think Skip is hardly our biggest problem. Our problem is that the 2 and 3 position players are underperforming by a lot! T-mac and Ron can get on each other all they want, but they have really similar numbers this season:

    FGM FGA FG% 3P% FT% 2P%
    Ron Artest 5.3 13.9 .384 .399 .731 .374
    Tracy McGrady 5.4 13.9 .388 .376 .801 .391

If you look closely, Ron is doing a bit better beyond the arc and T-mac a bit better inside and at the foul-line, but 2 of our big 3 is shooting at 38%! 38%?!?!?! you gotta be kidding me (Yao's shooting 54.7%, so don't blame him). Sure, Skip's number is little worse, but he's only getting paid $5mil, where as Ron and T-mac combines for $29mil+ ($8mil and $28mil respc.). If someone needs to be traded, Ron and T-mac both needs to go.

How can you doubt Tmac having some physical limitation? Say what you want about his toughness or his lack of effort, or even his failure to rehab properly. But I dont think there was anything mental about him blowing that dunk. That was simply, not having the ability to jump off that leg which is a physical limitation, regardless of why it exists. What possible motivation would Tmac have to embarrass himself like that and get killed by the press?
