Great article. It'd be great if Oscar and Steve could hang out atleast once a week and talk about the game, just so once Steve does get "it", he won't lose "it" either. It's not finding "it" that's the problem. It's keeping "it" in our grasps so we can be a consistent team.

Also Steve should make sure to tag Mobley along as well so he can absorb some of Oscars knowledge as well. It'd be great if both got "it".

Let's hire Oscar as our assistant coach now! :D

Oscar should have also taught Steve how to run fast breaks after getting all those rebs. Why didn't Steve ask it? Guess he still didn't notice this weakness of his. ;)

Steve always knew about "it", but he hasn't been able to translate "it" into his games.

Maybe Francis is a "doer" not a "thinker." Meaning, he has to practice it on the court before he gets "it."

Who ever Steve gets involved a lot after the Break is not going to be very happy with the message.

Who's our weakest player though? Griff, Posey, or Mobley?

I hope Steve translates it to them as, "Not the weakest player, but the least of an offensive threat." He would then go on to tell them, "It's hard b/c I don't see any of you guys as a weak link."

That's the most most PC way to tell them...hehe! :D

Cato is our worse offensive player. Even Collier is better. It's just that Cato gets more minutes.

As far as the ones you mentioned...

Griff is the next worse (youth)...then Posey, then Mobley.

    Good call... :D

But I don't think the worse offensive player on our team should have a reason to get upset because the leader of the team steps up and tells them so.

The least productive player should sit and listen up (if they want to improve). Else, trade them.

So why is it that everyone gets it but Rudy? :(

Because Rudy never was that type of player. He was a shooter. So, he doesn't understand the skill (or missed opportunities) of a point guards job.

He really doesn't understand the intricacies of passing, so how can he explain it to someone else?

Rudy has always been a simpleton: not a purist, but a REAL PURIST, as in the same play over and over and over....ha ha ha ha! :D

That's why when we got Barkley he would let him go wild. Barkley would do moves on his own and create and Rudy would say, "Wow, I never saw anything like that," like a kid in a candy store. Then, Rudy would take it to the extreme and let Charles go iso all the time because it was easier to let the players run wild than try and understand the players and incorporate them into a team.

It was almost like it was foreign to him.

Forget that. Let's move Mobley to 6th man, put Stevie at the 2, and sign Oscar. He's probably STILL better than most of the PGs in the league.

Either this is a fictional conversation that Fran is dreaming up, or Oscar was asked to talk to Stevie, and I have much less respect for Francis actually being so naive to ask nearly every frigging question we were worried about him thinking.

Like DCkid said, did Francis or did he not state nearly every worry about his thinking that we've had, and didn't Oscar give the perfect response.

Is Francis really so naive not to know about the salary difference, and that Oscar was 6'5"??

man? I'm I one of the few who would actually like to find out that that is a fictional conversation, and not a real one?

This was my secret fear, but the article represents the conversation in a way that it would be almost more than just irresponsible to print if it were fiction.

You know, I actually respect Francis for asking these things. I believe (and hope) he is at the point where he knows the "right" answers. I sense/know that Rudy and the staff are in his ear. Hopefully, this is like the best form of therapy - get any seeds of doubt out now - and have one of the top ten players ever stomp them into the ground for you.

Francis is a product of the hip-hop generation. "Me, myself, and I." And "Where's my dime."

Just look at the type of players that have rings in the last 10 years. That should tell you the type of player (mindset) you have to have to win the ring.

Oscar is trying to help him change that.

I am sure some of the 'not so smart questions' Francis asked was just to get the conversation going :)

    Great article! :D

    -G'day-
