I don't think Morey wants to sign any other FA's apart from Landry and Deke.

I totally understand Landry, this is his life we are talking about, he may never get a chance to earn income like this again. He probably can't get the deal he wants because of his injury, but he has to hold out as long as possible on the off chance that someone wants to take a chance on him. With his history, he can't afford to just sign quickly and hope something better comes along later.

Landry is far from the missing piece to a championship..why so much fuss about this guy..he reminds me of jo barry carrol or chucky brown..those guys are a dime a dozen....

    Carl Landry vs David West
    Carl Landry vs Tim Duncan
    Carl Landry vs Dirk

Wow...lets keep Carl...We got to sign this guy..he provides us with all the intagibles.. he is a powerhouse...

    GET THA _____ outta here..

And no other team in the league will do it either in all likelihood. That is just the way it seems to be going right now for Landry.

Hopefully, for his own sake, if by training camp, he winds up not signing a contract, he'll come to grips on that reality and fire his agent, and then just accept the qualifying offer the team tendered to him. Otherwise, he can just do a Walter Berry and go to Europe.

Landry has already done an MRI and other tests, Morey just wants more, preferably a knee scope, and that requires going under the knife. I can understand why he doesn't want to do it. I wouldn't want to be operated on if I didn't need to and showed that I'm healthy. Baker is doing the right thing for his client by holding out. Although I think they should settle for a 2 to 3 million a year deal. I think that should be good enough for both sides.

But seriously, this thing is getting f*%king annoying.

Actually it's more crippling to us than it is to the Hawks.

At least they would have $5.5million to spend on a player (that's about MLE).

    We would have no money.

As soon as we spend any of the MLE on a player, then Landry can simply sign for $1 more than we have remaining and walk. So in effect his 'caphold' is our MLE.

Of course, if he goes to Europe, we might as well just spend the MLE anyway, and see what happens...

I've got a feeling the league might bring in some rules/ exceptions for teams that have an RFA who signs overseas

In the end, nobody is paying Landry the full MLE. Take your $2-3 mill and buy a nice house man!!

It's not the point whether landry's contract is longer than 2years or not, because rockets will be gonna have suficient cap room for LBJ or Wade.
In the summer of 10,tmac's 22m salary will be cleared ,the same to rafer's 6m and scola's 4m.Then ,rockets will only have a total salary of some 30m(yao's 16m,shane's 7m,brooks'2m ,another 3m in total for Greene and Dorsey,3m for chuck.) It is expected that the cap of 10 will reach 60m or more, say,we'll have just used half of the cap room. While ,landing james needs 20m at most,so it doesn't matter morey signs some long contracts.

Well, some guys said that scola will take some of the 30m.However ,according to the rules, morey will have to offer scola no more than 10m per year which is far from the salary some europe clubs offer him now.I don't think scola will stay in houston till 10,getting a quarter of his real value.Long before 10 will scola be bought to europe .wherever he walks ,the solid thing is that his next destination will not be houston. So it's a better choice to trade him right now.Trade scola and bjax as a package for artest.

To be concerned about, out team list will just contain 5 guys then,as a result our crisis will be around the corner. To avoide the embarrasing situation, morey should sign more talented guys who play like stars yet eat rookies' salary.10m for seven guys, while 20m for LBJ,then morey will make up to the least roster level.

Yao plus LBJ is equal to Championship.

If this is supposed to be another LHutz, it's not very funny. If you are serious - stop posting. Immediately.

I don't think it's in Landry's best interest for us to offer him anything if there's a chance that Buddy's right and some team (to be named later) is cooking up a sweet offer. Then we'd have to match if we still wanted him. Damn, sounds like a catch-22.

It's a staring contest - 1st one to blink, loses

Sorry I didn't mean it was bad news for the Rockets, I meant it was bad news that we have to wait all summer and read a thread every time the Rockets talk about him or Buddy makes a comment.

I should have been more specific.

In actually it's probably better for the Rockets monetarily, because I have to think that the price will go down the longer the negotiations last.

That is def Morey's tactic here. He has said in the past that he refuses to over pay for any talent. He has said he best takes this approach by letting the teams that have cap room over pay for the top free agents out there and then to pay below market value for the remaining guys who are S-O-L kind of like Bonzi a couple years ago. It's a smart move on Morey's part because honestly, Landry is not worth more than 1.5-2.0 mil per season over the next couple years and that's being generous. All he has shown in his limited time is that he can dunk off Tmac's passes and hit the glass. That's not overly impressive if you ask me. Atleast not to the point that he should be earning more than what a normal 2nd round pick would make in their 2nd and 3rd season. Landry's 'big' payday will have to wait a couple years. Sorry Buddy. Morey isn't playing your game.

Thats not exactly reality tho. Technically its true, but Landry doesn't want out of Houston. He wants to play for Houston. Now... if some team offers him the MLE for 4 years he would glady leave, but thats not the case. I dont think he would go to another team for just 1 dollar more.

Most likely this thing won't get solved until training camp.

This is getting funnier by the day.

The more BB opens his mouth, the more he's showing just how bad an agent he is. It's like what some of you have said. It's not good when the agent himself is overshadowing the player, which is what's happening now. And in all likelihood, I believe he really might be an attention-seeker.

All the quotes in this article simply sound like fluff. In other words, BS. It seems like he doesn't have anything to show for his posturing and is trying to cover that up by being intentionally vague.

As for going under the knife, yes, Landry does have a right not to if he thinks it will hurt his value. But look at it this way, how is it any different from an employer wanting more information about us?

In Landry's case, his productivity is tied to his knee. As an employer, it's simple. You can't produce if your knee is questionable. So either we found out how it is, or we don't sign you. What difference is there from an employer asking for our GPA or having applicants sit through personality profiling tests for jobs where productivity is tied to our IQ/EQ?

I really hope for Landry's sake that he fires Buddy Baker and move on with his career. I don't even think that Bonzi's agent was this bad.

Oh and to sidetrack a little, one of the mods really need to look into agentzero's post history. I think his inane posts have annoyed more than just a few of us already. I don't know what the dude is on, but I'd like some of that if I wasn't trying to talk Rockets with fellow CF members :p

bla bla. What it really means is Landry is NOT likely to get better offer from other clubs at this stage, and hence he is considering doing the invasive knee check (which will take him out for 2 weeks).

The problem isn't being out for 2 weeks, but rather, if he does it, will it make things better or worse? If he turns out to be healthy, it will be better, Rox may even offer him longer term deal. But if he turns out to have issue with the knee, he will be doomed.

    I feel for the guy.

I was just talking about us being able to retain his rights...

If he went to Europe, then he probably wouldn't want to play for us?
