Carl doesn't bring the length and defense this team needs out of a full time 4.

As long as he's here there will be another 4 to split time.

The Rockets have gambled with Yao and Tracy to get it done....and would have if not for Yao going down. These guys are or were (in Tracy's case) superstar players.....Carl is not, but also has a history with that knee. He will be an integral part of our team, and they are not going to burn him out now. Besides he could get dealt for certain pieces.

The Rockets should have a nice window ahead with Morey pulling the strings.

Each team must assess their situation and make decisions in the best interest of the franchise.
I don't think your factoring in everything.

The Rockets have plenty of options and are in a unique place. We WILL contend if healthy next year and there is no reason for unncessary exposure...We will have a deep and talented squad after the moves involving Tracy and possibly Yao.(if not then we run with him)

I won't argue that professional sports is a business, but we are playing five card draw and have been dealt three aces........and now for our next two cards.

Landry topped the rookies in rebounding among players played meaningful minutes in his first year and he shot like 60% on mostly dunks (because of his tenacity and incredible hops) so naturally Hollinger rated him very high back then.

But Landry seemed have lost some of his athleticism since his first leg injury in the NBA. And his rebounding has suffered quite a bit since then (Scola's rebounding went the other way). But he developed a reliable outside shot in the 2nd season.

This season he seems have added some close-to-the-basket game to his repertoire, like the turnaround, behind-the-head shot that is almost impossible to block. He is much better at the line too.

I love him, but hope he'll further improve his defense which is the knock of his game at this point.

It is a nice problem to have with two incredibly productive PFs in Scola and Landry competing for minutes, especially we are only paying 6mil for them combined.

I like 36 minute averages because that is only about 10 minutes more a game and more realistic when looking at starters minutes. Carl is very impressive. One number I like is the 1.3 blocks per 36 minutes. Put Carl in the game with Yao next season if Yao can come back to pre injury form and thats about 3 blocks a game from our front court. Not bad.

I also think that as Carl becomes more of a dominate scorer then teams are going to have a much harder time doubling Yao because Carl will just eat their lunch in the paint if teams are doubling Yao.

Its r****ded if they pick Jason Terry again for the sixth man. That is completely bullcrap. Jason Terry is a great player and he is a starter on most teams. But Dallas put him on the bench because they need a fire power to come off the bench. Even though he comes off the bench, he plays a lot of minutes.

I think Carl Landry deserves the sixth man award way more just because he is more efficient. Carl Eff is +17.75 and he average around 26 mins per game.

Jason Terry EFF is +15.33 and he average like 10 more minutes per game than Landry.

Landry averages 16 ppg and 6 rpg while Jason Terry averages 18 ppg and 3.5 apg. Their numbers are close but I think Carl has the edge to this one. Plus Landry is way more efficient and he don't get as much minutes and still produce the same amount of number like JT.

JR Smith will probably be in the picture too. Watch out for him, when he is on fire, he can light it up with the best of them. This guy is probably one of the most dangerous streaky scorers in the league just because when he is feeling it, expect him to make like 4-5 3 pointers in a row. But luckily, he is very streaky.
