Battier doesn't work on his game in the summer and thats easy to see. He probably gets in shape, but he does 0 to improve his game. Even bruce bowen added the pump fake from the corner,2 dribble pull up to his game late in his career. What has battier added? 0

I can appreciate that argument, Battier doesn't seem focused on making himself a force on offense beyond his catch and shoot 3s. But he does train pretty hard and keeps himself in great shape. I'm sure he works on his game more than what we see on the court - I'm glad he doesn't try to overextend his skills and make a poor attempt at slashing to the hole when he clearly should not put the ball on the floor.

In a league where so many try to play themselves into shape each November, it's nice to have so many on our roster that come to Camp in October in game condition: Yao, Battier, Scola, Lowry, Martin, etc. This is an impressively professional and hard working squad.

I think he's taking a rational approach to his career. In the end, any offensive moves he adds is going to be worthless to his value as a an NBA team asset.

For his next contract, teams will want him for his

    1) Leadership
    2) three point shooting
    3) health
    4) defense

As long as he keeps those up or improves, he will have a fine long career with many more contracts. Working on his dribbles or post game or anything else is going to do jack squat for his career.

I think they will be a little beef going between Martin and Brooks. Brooks is on the verge of being the man. Martin for a time was the man. So now reading how Martin says he wasn't himself last year and we wasn't used to his teammates, now he wants to be in "attack mode". Its going to be tough with a scoring point guard that has a rep of not passing the ball at the right time. Its going to be a tug of war between them. I don't think its going to be as bad as the Ariza Brooks duel but I believe those guys won't be that close when the season's done.

Trade Brooks in a package for Melo then. Problem solved.
