How about Brooks, Jefferies, Bud for Nazr, Livingston and 1 first rounder?
We get a PG with size, ability to play multiple spots, and athleticism. Nazr is an expiring and a decent center on both sides. And a first rounder since we are giving more talent then getting. And our rotation mess would be cleared up! They would get a talented pg in brooks, another young prospect to play, and the versatile JJ.

    Lowry/Livingston/Ish/Lee
    Martin/Lee/Williams/Livingston
    Battier/Williams/Livingston
    Scola/Hill/Patterson
    Nazr/Miller/Hayes/Hill

SMH...He is a C on the last year of his 4 million contract. The Magic wanted him to replace Gortat.

Yes, but I am going to claim imminent domain on it, as I brought it up in your ode to Les for paying the tax article.

Makes a lot of sense to me.

I wouldn't want to take back a prospect, unless they are above the level of JT. We have no position where we could use another body. At least, I would like to have a 2nd-rounder, or a first way off in the future. Or get an exception. I guess if we trade somebody, we could have room for a prospect. Say, if AB left, it would be worthwhile to bring in somebody that could play the point, and had some potential.

First of all, they are trying to keep Yao.

Secondly, an expiring can be too big for the deal. Let's say the other team has a $5 million contract they want to get rid of, and they like all their other players. If we try to use Yao, then they have to add more players, maybe including players they don't want to lose.

If we give up AB, I want more than Nazr and a 1st coming back. Livingston is worth a roster spot, but we're really giving up 1-for-3, or worse. What we want is to give up two players for one that's better than both. It'd be nice to have Nazr, maybe very nice, but I want more for Brooks.

You realize a bobcats pick is like a top 10 pick? Possibly top 5? If stars don't want to come to htown..you'll have to get star talent thru the draft. To me, nazr is on the same level as a haywood. But better contract and a little better offensively.

I know it is a business, but I feel bad for Jared Jefferies.

I mean, from the quotes by JJ in the OP, it really sucks knowing something is going to happen to you, such as a trade.

He isn't a bad player either; very good defender.

I get the impression that, like Brad Miller, he really likes Texas. And whenever they have off-the-court vids on rockets.com, he's always clearly having a lot of fun with the other guys. So it rings true that he really likes being in this locker room.

I think he'd be very happy just getting spot minutes as a defensive specialist and a backup in case of injury. He's not looking to play big minutes at this point in his career.

It'd be kind of sad on a personal level (out of sympathy for him) if he's traded someplace crappy, but probably be good business..

$7 million a year to be halfway-decent at what you do? If I get there, I'll let you know, so you can feel sorry for me, too.
