Personally I am fine with the indecision, it gives us to spread our wings, try and find another coach, if it doesn't work out, bring grumpy back. It's like when you go on a break with your girlfriend, you get to date a bunch of other girls, but if you fail, you always got your girl waiting for you. Van Gundy is the girl in this analogy.
JVG or Adelman - makes no difference. The problem isn't and won't be coaching - it's the roster. Unless they fix that, this whole JVG thing is much ado about nothing.
You are a moron if you don't think JVG is the problem. JVG's best job would be an assistant coach for defensive assignment, and his second best job is a TV commentator. He'll never be great as a head coach. His stubborn personality and negative narcissism is never gonna change. From the first day he said to V-span, "you 're T-mac in Greece, and T-mac is T-mac here", I lost most of respect for him. His discriminatory treatment to different players also sickened me.
That certainly would be interesting, but I'm not sure JVG can take orders. Then again, it would take some stress off of him being head coach.
wait until next season it will not matter, even with the current roster Adelman will make us a championship contender, I would guess 63-19 at the end of the season...we have a good team, not great but good, Adelman will make Alston look like Steve Nash
IT's all about money...I think JVG will not be here next year, but it'll be about compensation, IMHO... I just want a good coach that understands we need to not only get past the first round, but win it all...
I can certainly understand the current situation. To my understanding, Rockets WANT him to come back next season. This has been reflected by many comments from CD and Morey, as early as during the mid-season, and as late as the recent days. However, both sides have some major issues that need to be sorted out. Rockets would love to announce that JVG will be back for NEXT season. However, it looks like JVG asked for some terms that Les does not feel acceptable. We just don't know what it was yet, be it financial (asking longer term, higher salary etc), or personnel decisions ( asking Les to spend in the free agent market etc). Contractory to what most people think, the Rockets organization likes JVG's work. This is the reason why both CD and Morey is on the record saying that JVG is welcome to be back if he wants to. However, the Rockets just does not think that JVG is the ONLY coach that fits the Rockets. In general, he did a wonderful job as head coach, but he also has flaws in hist coaching styles. Losing the 7-th game did not help JVG's case either. This is why Les is starting to look elsewhere and trying to find a replacement. Personally I really would like to see JVG to be back, because in general, he has done a very good job during his 4 year. So far, it does not look good, as Les very well could decide to change directions. It may noy neccessarily be a good decision. I certainly think he is not the only good coach available for the job, changing coach at this point could introduce a lot uncertain factors into the organizations, and the Rockets is on the way up right now. Really we can not comment too much right now, as we do not know what the true hold up is yet. Maybe JVG is asking too much, who knows. If that is the case, then it is entirely different story.
Pizza I don't know what kind of girls you date but when JVG pulled out the spicy black pepper turkey bologna the size of a cucumber from his package I figured out he wasn't a girl! On second thought Pizza and Sausage go together!
OK it's one thing to argue and then kiss and make up but Rockets have burned the bridge by going out in public and interviewing Rick Adelman. There is an unspoken rule between coach that they never lobby for a job unless the other guy isn't coming back for sure. I don't see how JVG comes back and salvages his relationship with the management. At this point Rockets have made it clear they don't want him back and so he should be the one to make the move and end this at his expense. Now JVG goes out and says hey this thing is no longer under my control and if they want me back then I will come back. It reminds me of getting into a fight with my girlfriend and after a few days we both just sit there waiting for the other to call to make up or call it quits. Both JVG and LES are doing the same but the difference here that LES went out and slept with another woman so a patch is not going to happen here. Time to move on for both parties.
i dont know if its that big of a deal that they talked to adelman. Even JVG admitted he was undecided, and the prudent thing to do as an owner is at least have a backup plan ready.
Different coaches prefer different kinds of roster. JVG's is very different from Rudy's. I'd expect Adelman (if he is the next coach) begin to shape the roster into the way he wants.
