I'm guessing that most of Jasikevicus' ass is Israeli, given that's where he's a big star; props to him, great collection.
WOW this would be a dream come true for me. I went to high school with Casey at Glendora (Go Tartans!) and have kept in touch with him on and off again since we both come back to our hometown pretty frequently. He kicked my buttocks the 2 times we played one-on-one but rightfully so what i can tell you about him in terms of a person. He is a really nice guy always smiling or laughing. as a player he is a great shooter..i saw him nail about 60 nba threes in a row one day at the gym during practice ...of course a lot of nba players can probably do that but its crazy to see a person do it live. he can put the ball on the floor but seldom does he prefers to score off the ball screens or spot up. the guy is a smart basketball player I have rarely seen Casey do anything out of his abilities. He is a "fiery" player who does show his emotions on the court and has the ability to lead his teammates. I have seen him do this at the high school level and college level. A "cerebral" player who can do little things to help the them. not afraid to take the final shot. cons: casey is fast but not quick...will not be able to beat most 2 guards in the nba off the dribble... his offensive game is limited because he does not attack the basket often and thus defenders can defend him better because he is predictable...he can dunk but not very athletic you will not see him rise over anyone to dunk the ball or grab a rebound, the times i've seen him dunk was on breakaways...if he is "off" he will try to shoot himself back into a la john starks....lateral movement not very good and thus poor perimeter defender. can be abused on the block due to lack of strength (the few times i did score on him in hs is when i posted up on him i am not very tall at all -5'9 in shoes- and was able to take him down low)..can get visibly frustrated by pesky defenders i think he would be a great pickup for the rockets though coming off the bench he can be a jon barry type guy with a bit more size. he will be able to space out the floor a lot with yao.defense needs a good bit of work but jvg will help him out there and the team defense will help mask his weaknesses
So it would seem. I sure hope there is more down the pike before the season begins. Maybe this guy will surprise us. I'm not holding my breath. (got a great looking wife, however!)
Snyder vs. Azubuike looks like a potential training camp war. Both of those guys are roughly the same size, same skill set, and very physical. Azubuike looks like he could play linebacker in the NFL. I think that is exactly what JVG wants. He wants these guys to battle out and whoever comes out on top is gonna be the SG. Jacobsen looks like bench help to me. I can still envision a trade of something like Howard, Head, and Rybo for maybe 1 or 2 players to help in the frontcourt.
He didnt look like a scrub when he was playing for PHX. Moochie is a scrub and we payed him a bunch. Im ok with this since its at the minimum.
One can only hope that Jacobsen will regain his shooting touch which is desperately needed if the Rockets sign him up.
Wasnted he Traded to NO from PHX to get Jim Jackson?? Sinc eJim wouldn't show up to NO?? Somthing like that, I forgot Oh yeah and The Battier's gf thing... I thought at first she was standing on somthing but look closely... Their heads are almost the same size and their shoudlers (while both r at a angle) are about the same width!
We now have quite a few 3 point shooters Let us see Battier, Novak, V Span, Luther Head and Now Casey ( his biggest weapon was the long range shooting)- I have a feeling Luther is not going to be a rocket for long. Man what is Rybo doing on this team?
V Span cannot be considered as a 3 point shooter. He needs to work a lot on his outside shot. Battier can shoot the 3 well at times but he isn't a shooter. Novak and Jacobsen are shooters. The former obviously is a unproven rookie who deserves a chance to show us what he can do while Jacobsen has to regain his lost form. Head was erratic with his shooting but can improve with time.
Glad that your buddy has a chance to make the team. I think he's pretty much going to be a specialist with limited playing time. He's going to be 2006 Pike if he makes the team. He will be on the court if opponent's defense collapse inside and dare us to shoot from outside. Is Farahm still with us?
Also, I like the versatality we are building by acuquiring these people this offseason. No big names, but each has some to bring to the table. Kirk is atheletic, JL3 is quick, V-span can penetrate, Jacob can shoot and so is Novak. I think we are doing the right thing to surround Yao and Tmac. Now the glaring weakness is that we need a 3rd big time scorer along side with Yao, and our PF is weak in the West.
I think the way the game is played in the NBA is changing in that it is a more team-oriented style, where no team will be successful expecting one single player to carry the entire team. Its obvious that the Rockets cannot afford another "big name" player without significantly restructuring the existing roster. I think they're tryig to assemble a team with excellent chemistry and I think they're doing a great job with what they have to work with. I am, however, really looking forward to the post-Dawson era, with hopes that the organization will not repeatedly screw themselves by offering bloated contracts to worthless players.
I like this addition, if it's true. Great 3-point shooter and scorer. His defense was susupect when he was in Phoenix, but hopefully he'll improve somewhat playing under JVG. This is a great addition, considering we don't have many great outside shooters on this team. He'll also help spread the floor when playing alongside Yao and T-Mac.
