He's a semi-insider. He's given us scoops in the past and as far as I know, they were right on. He probably can't tell us where he heard it.
He reported at about 263 Pounds- So he had atleast 40 lbs to loose. If he is serious enough- for the past 2 months ( assuming he dieted on Thanksgiving) he should be around 230. Let him get to 220 and play into the rotation. Many of you forget that he had a groin injury- and this was not made up. Again Bonzi is not going to lose money next year- we made another dumb choice and we knew what we were getting. The sad part is this guy can really play.
Players that are team players, hard workers, and want to win championships and are not schlep knuckleheads are who will want to sign here. Fine by me. Send Bonzi back to Sacto with Juwan for Rahim or somebody.
Is Bozi the most overpaid player in NBA ? He only played 10 mins this season, did not attend team practise often, and still gets over 2 million bucks. Nice job, impressively efficient money maker. But he is surely shortsighted, moneywise. I was excited when he announced to sign with Rockets.
so basically, 1. the rockets are waiting for him to get in shape before ever returning to the team, even just to tractice. 2. once in shape he will join the team for practices but we still won't see him get any minutes, until he develops chemistry with the players. 3. and this is the big one -- there are plenty of chances for setbacks on the road to seeing bonzi ever play for this team again. to me it sounds as if the rockets wil are not willing to mess with a good thing. we have a good record out of the gate, why rock the boat to rush bonzi back? when he is in shape, let him practice with the team to see if he can gel in one line-up or another. AND EVEN THEN, if we have a really good record, the rockets probably won't want to change anything.
Since Bonzi was so out of shape and had been carrying an injury all off-season it was never going to be anything less than a 2 month rehab. JHo + Bonzi = PJ Brown's expiring contract http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/postgame_061116.html "I have a very high regard for Coach Van Gundy and his coaching philosophy. If Tracy and Yao stay healthy, they are very powerful 1-2 punch. They are definitely a team that has to be reckoned with."
IC2000, thanks so much for the info! Can you tell us if this really seems to be the case? Is the fact that there's no news causing everyone to blow this out of proportion? Greatly appreciated!
Right now we're doing very well, so I could almost care less about Bonzi at this point. My dream scenario is for him to get back so we can showcase him, and hopefully the Clippers fall out of contention, then trade Bonzi and Alston for Cassell. Alston would make a good backup behind Livingston, though Bonzi doesn't fit too well there...but that's why they would have to be out of contention. The Clips would probably get some better offers anyway with Cassell being an expiring contract, yet still productive.
Holy crap, I just caught that! Two things are clear: 1) That WAS Yetti responding to Lopez 2) Lopez reads this forum
Just to echo what IC2000 said : I do know that Bonzi is back working out with the team. I heard that today for sure. I don't know when he came back. Also a well-known BBS poster told me the buzz is that Bonzi could be back playing this weekend (I don't want to steal his thunder since he told me that). I haven't been reading the Chronicle so for all I know it's common knowledge that Bonzi returned to the team working out ... just saying what I happened to hear.
