I once made it from Fry Rd. and Saums Rd. out in Katy to River Oaks Theatre in less than 15 minutes. We were late for a showing of Shallow Grave. Once we got in the dark theatre, my seven-foot tall friend sat on a 90lb 80-something woman.

    Good times. :)

Holy ****. I didn't even consider Marfreless! I don't drink, but that place is an institution. Even I made out there once! LOL.

I signed the petition and I'm strongly opposed to the destruction of either of those buildings.

HOWEVER, if it happens, atleast a starbucks will be going down with it! (nevermind there is one right across the street)

F Marfreless - it died years ago.

It's a renovated, lit-up, trendy little martini bar now.

Not upstairs it isn't. I went a month ago and, apart from the new couches, it was the same as ever.

By the way, the petition is over 20,000 signatures now.

What they ought to do is tear down the River Oaks theater, put their B&N there and then remove that Book Stop from Alabama and make it a theater again. Maybe with some renovations, they can turn the Cactus spot into another screen or two. The idea came to me while I was there the other day and looking down from the Mezzanine and thinking how nice it would be to watch a movie there.

    (is that redundant?)

What the hell is a 'property-rights' activist? Sounds like a synonym for 'douchebag politician' to me.

Barry Klein is a big turd. He fought zoning, he fights against preserving historical buildings and he fought every new stadium and arena. The guy is a political tool of money and a raving jerk.
