Entrapment isn't even a real thing this isn't a bad 1980s cop movie. Entrapment.... nobody has filed a suit for entrapment. Now planting stuff on people, they do that for sure. But they get away with it.
Yeah, it'd probably be stolen by thieves, not by upstanding citizens who normally wouldn't steal a car.
Why is it entrapment? Is it because the cops left the cars in the car instead of regular person? What about the guys that steal cars with keys in the ignition for A/C and kids sleeping in the back at gas stations? Are they guys innocent f, because the keys were left in the car? It ain't entrapment, because they know it's a crime steal somebody else's vehicle.
It actually started in Surrey, BC, Canada - and once improved upon, spread outward. Edit: Okay, maybe not "started", but became popular because of Surrey's program and the results they saw.
whoever says its entrapment, how is it different from cops acting like drug dealers/addicts, prostitutes, or act like a hitman. they didnt get out of the car hand the keys to someone and say hey take my car for a spin.
It's not entrapment just because law enforcement provides the opportunity to commit a crime, they have to induce or persuade the person to commit the crime. I think this is a pretty common misconception among people that merely having the opportunity presented by law enforcement is entrapment.
Hehehehe of course the delicious irony is that it actually IS a 'trap', and it works, and we are all better off for it. On a side note, why do all these a-hole thieves have to be SMOKERS?? Dang, as if it's not a violation enough to have some piece of crap vermin stealing your car and digging through your stuff, they also have to be driving around in it dumping their ashy filth all in it too?? Sheesh.
bringing an old topic since I saw this on the news this morning: What a monumental waste of money in my opinion. When the state is facing budget problems how smart is it to leave a car (that might get vandalized/wrecked in the process) just so you can catch individuals down on their luck only to push them into jail and then force the legal system to spend thousands of dollars to try to punish people set up by a trap. Does this not seem like an incredibly stuipd waste of public funds to pay to take people to jail and then prosecute them when they're setting the trap? I think this whole program is horse*****.
Somebody post that bait car reaction where the guy repeatedly screams "i just moved" or "i went like this" while waving his arms. I forgot what he said but I think I saw it on Tosh lol
 I stopped reading there 'cuz I LOL'D. I guess all the individuals here on CF.net who post "I'm out of a job, dudes" are going to go steal a car??!?! GTFO.
I think it was on The Soup and they were showing a clip from the show Bait Car on TruTV. EDIT: Here it is. <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xpsHaVYzW18" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe>
I got past where Slowly stopped (his stopping point was lol though) but then I stopped reading after the bolded part.
Yeah, if we would just leave the "down on their luck" car thieves alone we could probably balance the budget.
ARGHHH!!!! it's SwoLy, SeƱor Loco!!!!! That's it!!! I'm so mad and down on my luck that I am gonna go steal the first car that has a key in its ignition and has a camera hidden.
It would at least make SOME sense if they were trying to bust up chop shops or other upper-level car thievery operations. These are just some crackhead peons, people who aren't gonna be deterred by rumors of a bait car floating around out there. What they should do is follow these cars, wait for them to get into the hands of whoever it is that takes them to their final destination, and then do some **** like this: <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/D7B5H11XOok" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe> "Is this the illegal chop shop?"
