Oh so you're mister playoff performer. Last I heard, the 82 games in the regular season do count.

Head has been one of the top three point shooters in the league the past 3 years. To simply shrug the guy off as a waste of court space because of 2 bad playoff performances under unusual circumstances is not the the right route to go.

All the hate... C'mon, Luther's been a Rocket all along. He's tried hard, and shouldn't be the scapegoat for our playoff woes. He played what, 45 minutes during the Jazz series, and we blame everything on him? We weren't a team built to win that series then. Give him a chance and give up the hate. Actually, head has a better chance to be successful here than Ron this year, believe it or not. You guys are too optimistic in the wrong places, and too down on other issues.

Luther is a nice insurance policy incase of brent barry going down with injury.the guy has the potential to be a solid player in the motion offense. what he needs to do is move more off the ball and take less crazy shots that he tens to do. he needs to be able to finish better as well. he needs to get his handles to nba level. he is attrocious at carrying the ball up.

Well if Luther can get on the court this year (that might be difficult) AND show that he is capable of throwing two passes in a row without turning the ball over (that might be even more difficult), then it sure wouldn't hurt to have his shooting.

However, his miserable performance 2 years running in the playoffs, and the unlikelihood of the above scenario taking place, makes me think he will be gone by midseason.

Why all the intense hate for Luther?!

Who else would you rather have as your 3rd string SG??? At his salary and youth??? Kobe Bryant??? Yeah go Head Haters.

Seriously, I dislike Luther too. Especially on his "becoming ****tier" from his sophomore season to his 3rd season...and of course his absolutely awful playoff performances.

I'm hoping he plays well and then we trade him for a first round draft pick.

But you never know, he might show up much better than he was last few years, I mean even Mike James puts up 20/8 on his contract year.

I've always liked what Luther brings to the Rockets, and I really like the idea of having a Barry/Head back court in the second unit. He's at his best when he doesn't have to handle the ball very much--spotting up or making a quick, decisive move towards the basket. When he's asked to do too much his whole game suffers, which indicates to me that he has a confidence problem. Well, this season there's no room for timidity. If Luther doesn't believe in himself, he won't see the court. We didn't have that luxury in the past.

i thought this is his 4th season?

anyway, with the good talks about him, and him selected to the US select team, his value should be as high as it gets. Any chance of him being traded?

I like his youth/shooting ability etc, but at the moment, his the only guard with some trade value, and i think he have reach his limit as a player. If a trade comes along, or even a 1st round pick if that is possible, i take it.

In all honesty, I think people hate on Luther because he's an easy scapegoat.

Think about it, where do our frustrations stem from? Playoffs.

And who is our worst performer in the playoffs? Luther.

He is our third-string SG, and he is not as terrible as people on here make him out to be.

He is a quality, regular season, backup, who has the potential to work out the kinks in his game and develop into a solid player.

    Give it time.

it's a good news that head has developed a lot during the summer, but the bad news is that head will not help get rid of the luxury tax. Head's salary is over 2m dollars per year, of which is not worthy for a guy who got 8pts and 8 assists in last season's playoffs. Getting eight plus eight per game is not a bad stat for a role player like head, but the eight plus eight was the whole luther head contributed to our team in that series.

It's good for luther head to make his mark in the camp, and it would be even better if he could make some efforts in the upcoming season. At least, luther has been selected to the US senior select team before the olympics. Further, next year will be head's contract year so that he will be gonna try his best do something that can increase his market value.

wait wait wait, didn't adelman say good things about Head during last season's training camp as well? let's not put that much expectations on our 3rd-string SG.

Why so much hate on Head? You guys want him to play like Moochie Norris?

If he steps it up and continues to improve his shooting and defense, he definitely deserves to be part of this team. Think about it, how many shooters do we have besides Brent Barry and Shane Battier? T-Mac and Ron can shoot 3s but they are kinda streaky. I would be glad to have a motivated and improved Head in my team.

Let the best guy play. If Luther has improved and is a better player than Barry or anyone else then give him the minutes. I doubt it would happen but all I care about is watching this team win.

Barry and Head in the backcourt together seems interesting but I don't see that combination getting much time on the court. Who is going to guard the opposition's PG? Barry is too slow and for all of Head's athleticism on paper he sure doesn't bring it to the court. Then again, adding Artest to a team that was already nasty on team defense might give a Barry/Luther combo enough support with stopping PG penetration that they could just sit back and reign 3s on offense for a few minutes here and there.

The article doesn't really say Head is playing well. It says he's trying hard not to get permabenched and traded.

I really think people forget how important Luther Head could be to this team in the regular season. Artest nor have McGrady have exactly been Iron Men in the regular season. Head is a consistent shooter who knows his role. Sort of like a Chuck Hayes on the perimeter. I'd keep him around. Who cares if he doesn't perform in the playoffs? How many minutes will he actually get anyways? If we trade the guy, I wont exactly be heart-broken, but the things he adds to the team would be missed. Some of us fans need to quit acting so damn spoiled.

Just remember, he is third string. Meaning not as good as Rafer. Meaning not as good as AB or Barry so stop treating this issue like he is supposed to be better.

What you see is what you get.

So talks of a 1st round pick for him is ridiculous. TE? Not by himself, your going to have combine him with someone that actually has some value to him. For instance what Charlotte see's in Landry. Or what anyone would see in Scola. Maybe even Francis (to the Warriors?)

He might have shot well during the season but he is still a undersized 2. Playing the 1 he has too many turnovers.

So he is gonna have to be packaged plain and simple.

This dude got a 3 year, 4th year QO?? Dang.

Head is worthless, if he's not performing in the playoffs. That's why guys like Robert Horry and Elie were so valuable. They were able perform under incredible pressure and stress. There is no "clutch" fans, if there is only choking under playoff pressure. It's just choke city.

If the Rockets need only players that can perform in the regular season, then Hakeem would have been traded for Karl Malone in 94, and they would have traded for Stockton and not Drexler in 95.
