Lol @ SJC's post :D . It would be brilliant if the Rox management or Team Yao or Yao himself could set this up and make it happen. Like all the other fans, I am beseeching the God(s) to make it happen!

If Yao can dominate the way he did before his injury, and T-Mac's back stops bothering him, neither needs to worry about whose team it is - they will easily go back to the playoffs and contend.

Just hope T-Mac will take it slow and easy and not put too much pressure on himself (in order to quiet his critics/doubters). Also hopefully T-Mac will not have to play 40+ minutes for us to win every night. I guess an ideal number for T-Mac is 35 minutes, at least in the first half of the season.

I've been waiting for this for so long.
Just one question, why next summer? How about doing it ASAP? I just can't wait. Please, this year.

As excited as I am about what Dream is saying about this situation, the ball is mostly in his court. Every year he just happens to come into town when Yao leaves, and heads out before Yao gets back. Considering that Yao is in Houston for 9-10 months out of the year, their constant misses can be pretty frustating.

I mean if Dream could stick around Houston even up until the beginning of training camp, he would get some time to workout with Yao. And I'm sure Yao would be more than willing and appreciative to train with Hakeem, but they have to square away their schedules first.

Dream quote: "He can be taught. Let him see how it's done."

Paraphrase: Let me show him how it's done. I'll teach him how to be ***THE*** man in the lane that everytime, every opponent coming into the lane would think first 'Ohhhhhhh, my Gawd - He's gonna destroy me'.

Sorry Hakeem, i can gurantee Yao will have obligation with the CNt next year as well and the following year and the following years........ :D

Hakeem training Yao will be a good idea and pairing but remember that a great player doesnt necessary a good teacher. Look at Okafor, even before his injury last season i dont think he improved much after attending Hakeem's big men camp! So dont put too much hope in it!

It's cool and all, but don't expect Hakeem to work any miracles.

First, Yao is on his way there mentally already. Offensively, he really stepped up and took on the load after he got healthy. Defensively, he'll get there with more capa able defenders and less midgets around him.

Also, Mutombo has the "I own the ****ing paint" mentality just as much as Hakeem did and Yao seems to have absorbed plenty from Mutombo already. Some of his swats last season really reminded me of how Dikembe used to do it.

Okay, great, what are you smiling about? Hakeem not helping Yao is going to help the CNT?

Well, coaching someone not to be a gentleman on the court does not necessarily need a degree in Education :D

Sure, Yao needs constant improvement, but more than anything, he needs that tough, mean street attitude.

On 2nd thought, Shaq might be a better teacher in this regard  In his Shaqy voice: I'm the Diesel. Come hit me!

Fair enough but remember Tim Duncan's recent experience with Hakeem?

Duncan, a multiple NBA championship winner, was schooled recently by Hakeem in San Antonio (I believe it was either this year or the year before). Duncan said he learnt something that he never knew or something along that line. Duncan cherished the experience and he said he believes it will make the game easier for him.

If Dream can do that for a perenial NBA first Teamer, Yao will be a piece of cake. Yao has some ways to go to even be like Duncan before the Dream lecture.

So consider your hubris deconstructed :)

Like your conclusion but question your reasoning. That A teacher can teach a good student doesnt mean that it can teach a different student.

Ewing and Van Gundy and his assistants are coaching Yao through grade school and junior high. Dream will be Yao's Professor through his Master's and Doctorate degrees.

Someday it will be: That's Dr. Yao to you!

I guess my anaology means Yao skips High School and his bachelor degree, but it would have made it too long a story. :p
