Rafer's floaters and midrange jumpers might as well be considered turnovers.
You and every other Rockets fan knows that when Rafer takes a 2 point shot, it's a painful sight that results in paint chipped off the rim. Anybody who dribbles across halfcourt and throws the ball to T-mac can have low turnovers. Please explain to me what "pure point guard skills" are involved in that. And is "pure point guard" just used for people who can't score? Eric Snow is a "pure point guard" because he can't throw a rock in an ocean, right? But he cannot create offense at all, for himself or his teammates, which to me is the definition of "pure point guard". We are blessed with arguably the best playmaking swingman in the NBA who will run the offense in the clutch, regardless of which PG is in the game. We need someone at PG who adds value as a threat not some passive bystander who is left open religiously. And the guy that was referencing Hollinger is using the wrong person because Hollinger has repeatedly said that the Rafer-Mike James trade was one of the dumbest moves we've made over the past few years.

I wouldn't mind having Rafer as a backup. At this point, we have a team full of backup PGs. I hope Stevie proves that he can still start.

You underrated the hell outta James and Francis. I can understand that their latest season wouldn't give people the greatest confidence, but good lord, it's still just one season... And neither of them were in a very good situation, and were obviously not happy.

Just the season before in Orlando, Steve was showing a lot of control and a lot of the abilities we need from our PG... and we all know what James was doing the season before.

I agree about Rafer, though. He is a bona fide 2nd-stringer... Does not deserve to start for any team in the NBA.

Which is exactly why they need to prove themselves. I know what they WERE capable of doing, but we need to know that they are STILL capable of attaining that level.

It's awfully funny how Sam Fisher realizes this, and how it is true, and yet how someone who is so blatant about stating his realization of this that SAME person Sam Fisher will argue and argue till the end with ANYONE that criticizes Van Gundy for refusing to play anyone but Alston.

How Sam Fisher realizes exactly what many, many fans realize and have stated over and over that what was needed at point guard was players that could FINISH and actually make baskets or get free throws, how Spanoulis was needed NOT Alston.

To this Sam Fisher calls these people "idiots" "nut riders" "sack huggers" "jock sniffers" "Greek lovers" and my PERSONAL FAVORITE "Jeff Van Gundy haters."

This may be the single most hypocritical post I have ever seen on this forum.

I am saying that this post by him definitely makes me wonder if Sam Fisher is indeed Jeff Van Gundy. At the very least it absolutely exposes his hatred of Spanoulis as nothing more than pure bias.

    :D

Shall we call this a farewell sniff of Spanouis' jock, B-Ball scientist?

A last, tearful angry jaunt from his smelly hellenic nether regions?

A last lovin' spoonful of the Spnaoulis Tzatziki.

Pouring out a glass of ouzo on the curb for your dearly departed boy-toy.

No longer will you be able to stuff his grape leaves. :(

Oh v-span, we will never again see your hairy neck, and your whining face, again....we have our scola, but he is no span. Will he be able to post the worst PER on the team? Probably not, so he will be no you. :( :( :(

*tear being brought to my eye

This thread now has two endangered species: Rafer Apologists and Spanoulis Scrotriders. A rare and impressive find.

    1. Instead of trying to cover that I exposed the truth, how you said what was needed was scorers and finishers at one, ability to make lay-ups and that turnovers hardly even mattered compared to this, you yourself stating the exact point that all the fans that criticised Van Gundy were saying and that grasped Spanoulis should have played over Alston.............

Because your own hypocrisy and bias has now been 100 percent fully exposed you result to a very childish and immature rash of lame and juvenile insults. Just like you have done numerous times before.

You also failed to even attempt to deny the Jeff Van Gundy comparison.

And what is Jeff Van Gundy known for? He is known for lame and immature insults towards others, what he thinks is "funny."

Either way it doesn't matter now, with that post you officially exposed yourself on this forum and now everyone has proof of it. Nice going.

Yeah, why people want to clown with Sam Fisher is beyond me, but I'm glad they do. The more serious they become, the more they're throwing batting practice to him.

I learned my lesson the hard way, long ago.

He exposed himself as having a sense of humor, which is quite a contrasting trait, apparently.

Behold my friends, over yonder, the hairy testikles of yore!

Let us suspend ourselves from them, so as to see if they may bear our weight, for one last glorious ride!
I have not exposed myself yet, I can assure you my friend, this forum has yet to see my bits & pieces.

There will come a time, however, when all will be revealed. --8

Sam clings to his very poorly disguised defense mechanisms and his school-yard insults and lame attempts at humor, while still not once denying he's Jeff Van Gundy.

Jeez can we get over the Van Gundy/Vspan/Rafer arguments?

    What's done is done.

On to bigger and better things... like the "Maybe Mike J is not like everyone said" Mike James argument, or the Why are we trying To/Not-To be like Phoenix Argument, or the "I thought Bonzi was ready to contribute" discussion.... SOMETHING where we can weigh in and wager on the future outome(s).

    Here's a starting point

Yeah, because we know from experience, what he says is ALWAYS how it is. And having too many players at one position makes them all happy, and competitive, and doesn't piss anyone off at the lack of time they're getting....especially THIS cast.

Honestly, I think Mike James is saying a good thing here, and while I never liked his attitude, and liked it even less when he BBD'd us last time around. I scoffed as his last season went poorly causing me to be very glad we didn't get him, but I am glad dude has returned, and think he can do a lot for us if his head is right. I agree that we need the talent we have now at guard for differing reasons, but what fun is just saying "YEAH, what HE said?" More fun to start the new arguments, and let the old ones go... they never got us anywhere anyway.
