I just hope CD doesn't give Pig Miller a long term deal any time soon. He hands those out like candy.
i'm not saying that it was good what he did But, 'we do not know what happened. if eddie had his reasons we should have faith that it are good reasons. afcourse his quotes do not show that he is in pain, what should his quotes have been like? i'm so verry depressed i didn't call jeff because i was trying to shoot myself???? (not saying that was the reason, but if he said that we would have known he was in pain ) i think we should let the team decide what happened. we know nothing of eddie. he is more then just a basketbal player. he (like every player on our team) are also human. and humans have their problems. and they also make mistakes. especially someone that young.
IMO, the key points in the article... You betcha he's going to be "permitted" to practice. Anyone else notice the subtle difference between RT (players' coach) and JVG (micro-manager)? Suspension. The Rox would be absolutely foolish not to pickup Griffin's 4th year option. The option is for cheap (4th year @ rookie scale and restricted FA for year 5), makes him easier to trade (more desireable to a trade partner when he already has a 2004-05 contract and transferring Bird Rights), allows him to be used (left unprotected) in the 2004-05 Charlotte expansion draft (he is considered a FA w/o a 04-05 contract). Pig? Again? Slimmer @ 278#'s? Over EG? Hmmm......Pig and Amaechi give us a lot of Hack-a-Shaq fouls.
Not really. When Griffin skipped last year he called in and, therefore, was not suspended. If he had called in this time, I bet he would not have been suspended. Do you think Rudy doesn't discipline players? What about Vernon Maxwell or Two Sammiches? When they crossed the line, they weren't just suspended, they never played again.
Eddie has just never shown any improvement since his rookie season and he's demonstrated over and over that he has no real desire to improve. I agree you gotta exercise the option on him, but that's only so you can trade him. Let's get Shareef!
He's accepted his errors. He's taking full responsibility for his lapse. The boy's got some demons, and lets hope he works through them. JVG may be just what he needs. It's not like the other Rocket players haven't takent the occational game off
I must remember it incorrectly. I thought he was left out of at least one game last season (don't know if they actually called it "suspension").
He is NOT taking responsibility, he is just doing enough to get by. Responsibility is telling your boss what you are doing, and why you are missing time. He let the team down...and can not be counted on.....that is a given. Give him the extension, and trade his scrubby butt, because he will be out of the league in 2 years with this crappy attittude. DD
Eddie, with some tough-love, is going to be fine. A zero tolerance coach is exactly what this kid needs. I think he is going to be running through walls for JVG by the end of the season. IMHO.
I dunno. I think the real problem here is the Rockets looked the other way. EG should have been on a short leash from the beginning, with a regular conditioning and workout regimine with the assistant coach for player development. It's not too late to do that. BUT DAMN IT GET AN ASSISTANT COACH FOR PLAYER DEVELOPMENT YOU FRICKING MORONS! Why do you think Dallas and Sacto player get better and ours don't ? It doesn't just "happen". The resources and checks and balances are there to make sure players improve. Dude should not play another game until he has game. Period. He still should get the extension, as DD notes. Rox have to protect their investment now, even if they pissed it away earlier; with zero player development or player management. Damn. There's just too big an investment in personnel to ignore them. This is not a regular job, where you hire a qualified person or provide x amount of training to get a certified or licensed person. Rox have got to get a handle on this.
Without prejudice, RudyT had more hand in acquiring EddyG than any other Rocket front office personel. In the same vein CD/JVG hands are all over Amaechi - the ratio of influence could not be decuced at the point of this post. Oh by the way, is it just me or does Eddie Griffin remind anybody else about DH in Playmakers?
Oh. My. God. I just realized we gave up FIVE #1s for Amaechi and Spliffin. We could've landed an impact player for five #1s.
JV - I stand corrected. Griffin called in prior to the Dec. 20, 2002 game with the Hawks and was excused for "personal reasons". And further, I blurred the line between off-court and on-court discipline. However, if you are telling me that RT is Van Gundy's equal in on-court discipline, we will have to agree to disagree.
