Donte Greene can get minutes when McGrady goes down. Shane can slide over to 3. Barry comes in at the 2. Greene comes in off the bench with Luther.
Thank you for letting me know that. I thought the Chronicle would print whatever information that they obtained from a source. All they have to do is contact the Rockets office for correct information.
When T-Mac goes down? I hope that's not wishful thinking or an expectation. Anyway, Battier doesn't need to be playing 40 MPG so you don't have to look far to find where Greene's minutes will come from if he indeed is as NBA ready as he appears in the summer leagues so far [knock on wood].
You're whinging about the guy who scored 10ppg at 51% in his rookie campaign?? (and before you go beserk with the whole "but he's 27" thing, historically it's been shown that even the older rookies take some time to adjust to the NBA game - check his numbers post all star break, 13 and 9) I still think we need another person who could 'potentially' score 15ppg - I'm not convinced that 2 post scorers works...
do you think guys in the nba will just get out of his way and allow him easy lay-ups? The reason he takes his unorthodox method to get to the basket is because NBA athleates are the best in the world. And in order to beat them you have to be equally athletically skilled(which luis is not) or you have to throw them off with unorthodox methods…. People how don’t understand this have either never played ball or don’t really understand the game.
Robert Parrish and Kevin McHale. Brad Daughterty and "Hot Rod" Williams. Hakeem Olajuwon and Otis Thorpe (home town examples). Hakeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson. David Robinson and Tim Duncan.
Kevin Willis and Danny Manning Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson (occasionally). I think Greene shouldn't have to go D-League right away, if he doesn't do great, he should just sit at the end of bench and learn...it's not really any point. I don't really see him getting better against inferior competition, especially he can do somethings effectively right away that would help the team. The Rockets, sort of, need player like him right now on the bench, since athleticism has always been won of our downfalls, as well as weak bench.
Interesting point you're on to. I wonder if sitting on the end of the bench would actually be better for his development. He could very well go to the NBDL and continue to be happy jacking up 15-20 shots a night. On the Rockets roster, he would have to earn every minute he gets of playing time. That could potentially be pretty humbling to a 20 year old player, and force him to develop and find his role on this team. You know he won't be throwing up that many shots in practice with McGrady and Yao on the court.
Actually he can't go right away they start a month or so after the NBA games start. The NBA starts in late October (wasn't our first game last season on Oct 30th?) D-league doesn't start until around Thanksgiving. At least it didn't last year. When did Aaron and Novak go down to work on their game? Was that in December or January? I think that it worked out well how they did it.
