I'm trying ! As for convincing people, nah, not trying. However, I will open up the biggest can of "I told ya so" the world has ever seen if he goes to the Titans and becomes the best football player on the planet in 3-4 years like I predict he will. And, I will be relentless.... Let's hope the Texans listen to championship coaches like Shula and Walsh who have said to take VY.... DD
I understand that trading the #1 pick for a slew of present and future picks has some appeal, and I understand that Reggie Bush is a freak play-maker "can't-miss" type of pick. But then there's Vince Young. People know about his athletic ability, but do not underestimate his other valuable qualities: Leadership, Competitive Spirit, Poise under Pressure, Instinct. I think it is these less hyped qualities that could make Mr. Young the class of the NFL for years to come. And combine these qualities with his well-advertised athletic qualities and I'm finding it harder and harder to pass up on what could potentially be the face of the NFL for the next decade. Extremely tough choice for the Texans brass, but the kind of difficult decision you like to have. Pass on Young and you still have a Johnson-Bush-Carr triumverant or a slew of early round picks.
my posts are pertinent in changing the lives of people for the better. We are the world, we are the children We are the ones who make a brighter day so let's start giving There's a choice we're making We're saving our own lives It's true, we'll make a better day just you and me.

Something most people overlook in the whole hometown pride thing is that we have the first pick, and the first pick gets BIG guaranteed dollars. Reggie had been tabbed as the first pick all season, so he wouldn't be praising Houston nonstop when we weren't guaranteed the 1st pick. Vince, however, knew we had the first pick when he declared, so he can promote the hometown as much as he wants while the fans clamor over his dedication. I'm sure he wants to be playing in Houston, but the money is definitely the driving factor. Its not like he grew up watching the Texans.
Of course you would, they both want to be the #1 overall pick, it means more money. If Houston had the 5th pick, do you think VY would still want to come to Houston as bad? Its all about the $$$ at this point.
Wow, I didn't know you were in Vince's head. Since you obviously know everything about him, please find out his opinions on global warning and the Middle East for me. KTHX.
I would bet your house and your $250,000 that if the Texans had the #5 pick, he would still be saying how bad he wants to play for us. Bush wants to be the #1 pick because he doesn't want to lose to VY again (he sort of implied it in an interview) and I'm sure he would love #1 pick money (as would VY). But VY wants to be a Texan because he wants to play for his hometown, he's said it over and over again about how much he loves Houston. He was born and raised here and you have to admit how exciting it would be to play for your hometown. Vince already knows he is going to be loaded, he's going to receive more money than Bush his rookie year, #1 pick or not. I remember the news saying the "VY package" was anywhere from $80-$100M dollars, 80% or more probably coming from endorsements alone. You're just trying to make VY look like he is only interested in the money and I think deep down inside you, you know he isn't.
Wow. The level of hating is about to go through the roof, I believe. Anyway, thanks for pushing me closer to wanting the Texans to draft VY.
Come on, you have to admit that the ridiculous comments are coming from both sides. Is it draft day yet? Of course the bad thing is that the comments will probably get even worse after the draft.
I haven't heard many, if any, straight up personal attacks on Bush. In the past week or so, I've heard VY compared to TO, criticism about the charging for autographs, and now people saying the only reason VY is talking about playing for his hometown team is because of money.
LOL - short of hometown ties, why would anybody want to play for a moribund, pathetic franchise like the Texans? Anyway, the bottom line is that he has not said it - in fact it was rumored that he wanted SF to have no. 1 pick so that he could play with his high school teammate Alex Smith. But anyway, the assertion that both Bush and Young have equal motivations to play for the Texans is so mind-numbingly stupid even by the standards of a sore Rose Bowl loser that I'm at a loss. Regardless, I'm still waiting for you to back your assertions up about John McClain tape measuring Reggie Bush.
We act like this is the freaking Civil War. a) It's only a damn game. b) We're all from Houston and want to see our team win. Can we cut the grade school crap? Don't make me go Rodney King on your asses.
If VY want's to play for Houston so bad, that makes it a no brainer to draft Bush or trade down. That way VY can sign a short term contract with NO or Tenn or whoever drafts him, then he can be groomed for several years and when he hits his prime he can just come home.
