Krieger: For nibble at ring, would Barkley bite?
    July 14, 2003
Musings for a Monday morning while awaiting Charles Barkley's announcement that he'll be playing for the Lakers, too . . .
? Sources tell me Barkley will accept the Lakers' Overweight Retired Guy salary-cap exception because, hey, he'd like a ring, too.
? The exception offers only meal money, but Barkley estimates this could amount to several million dollars.
? In fact, Charles was part of the last super group, the one in Houston with Scottie Pippen and Hakeem Olajuwon. Barkley and Pippen didn't get along, and the thing self-destructed faster than John Rocker.

I have to agree that this sounds like a good thing. The rox definitely need more discipline. Also, YAO needs to be the focal point of the offense!

I thought about this also. These guys are known as unassuming lackadasical types. Taylor has always known to coast and even as a younger player, it seems Griffin coast alot also. The new assistants probably are going to be really puching these two to see which is really he better fit. Minutes will be won , not giving this time around in camp.

The bad news is that you're fired. The good news is that you have the summer league to get your job back.

well, considering that Spree liked playing for Van Gundy, probably not at all.

Worked hard at executing Rudy's ISO offense. They were just doing what their coach told them to do.

Waiting for Rudy T. defenders to come in with the we should have gotten new players who needed the laid back style instead of the obvious correct move in getting a coach to fit the team already in place.

So I guess the games that Ming did not see the ball for entire quarters were the games they listened to Rudy, and the games where Ming saw the ball and we won, then Francis and Mobley were doing what they wanted to do?

First of all Ming saw the ball plenty of games and we still lost. Please don't make it sound like when he touched the ball we won, when he didn't we lost.

Don't confuse our W's and L's with proper play. We "won" plenty of times with Mobley and Francis playing crap, ball hogg, no pass basketball. Likewise, we "lost" several games where they excuted the damn plays but Yao screwed up by missing the shot or turning it over.

We needed more of those "losses" and fewer of those "wins." Rudy didn't get the guys to buy into the new protocol on offense and allowed people (Francis and Mobley) to sacrifice the development of the team for perhaps a few more wins.

If nothing else, JVG has convinced players to buy into the system and do it his way.

sounds like the kindof guy that can improve our defense and rebounding, can't wait to see if they come out and play with defensive intensity night in and out, if they do i would pick them to make it in the top 5

Juaqin is exactly the kind of guy JVG likes. He's going to be back.

Tito might not make it. It sounds Maddox is not so sure himself either.

This is music to my ears. This is also exactly what the Rockets need. Stuff like this makes me happy.
