Austin Croshere shines in the playoffs for one series, too. Let's trade for him. If he can do it every playoff series like Horry, then we have a heart of a champion.
We'd have to get a really good, young PF for that package. I wonder if we can pick up Portland's Magloire for our TE and/or Sura. True, he would be a half-season rental, but he could give us a hand at center for the next few months until Yao's return. At that point, JVG could go to match-up heaven. If Magloire goes to another team next summer, we still win because he takes a lot of money off the Rockets' cap. Also, he gets replaced by a rookie PF, unless of course the Rockets retain JVG and toss our draft pick to the wind again. Also, I wouldn't mind replacing Alston with Steve Blake someway somehow, but that isn't going to happen.
I believe the potential value of Bonzi`s contribution has already been demonstrated in such wins as the Rocket`s blow-out over the Spurs in SA, as well as some other stellar moments of spot duty in a few other games. We have all hoped for more and have all had some disappointment, but I believe we will soon see Bonzi rise out of the ashes so by mid-stride of the first round of Playoffs, any talk of having wanted to trade him will be laughable and his play will be anything but a fluke. Many on this Board wanted to get rid of Head and Howard, both of whom have had indispensible roles in the Rocket`s success, so let`s not give up on Bonzi just yet, particularly given what it cost us to acquire him. I , however, am still am not convinced of Alston and though JVG insists he is his man, if we want to talk trade wishes start there and throw in Padgett, Sura, and yes even V-Span, who at the start of the season I defended, but now will concede you were right...
While we are forced to use Battier at PF on occasion, he is not a long-term answer. If you notice, he usually guards SFs (Ron Artest, Kobe Bryant, etc.) because he does not have the size to play the vast number of true PFs in the league. I do not mean to take anything away from SB, but he is a small forward who pushes T-Mc back to SG.
If Bonzi can give us 15-20 ppg in the playoffs, he will make our team elite. Mark my words. The only thing that currently separates us from the elite teams is that last bit of scoring punch, Bonzi has the ability to give us that.
Not according to JVG(for what it's worth) & other posters. Maggette's contract is much longer than Bonzi's. I'd rather keep Bonzi than trade him for Maggette.
If Bonzi come back and looks good, I'ma predict he'll cruise til the all-star break, and then go off for the second half of the season.
remember the last time one of our players visited the venerable Dr. Patterson? we can only hope. [fingers crossed]
Bonzi has proven to be worthless, we don't need him....let's ride with the cast that we have, and if we can trade Bonzi for a PG or PF...do it. DD
Maggette's contract is a GOOD thing. After this season, he has 2yrs/$16MM left, which is a good price for a player like him.
