Then he should be cut, immediately.

    I thought you liked Steve?

    You're right, he's not a bad pg. He's a terrible pg.

    can't -

create a shot for others or himself

can't hit a floater to save his life

    can't get to the bucket

    can't stop anyone on defense

can't direct the opposing pg into the help D

can't hit an open shot to save his life

only in Houston would they continue to play a guy as bad as Smush Parker in a starting role.

Rafer does nothing to warrant respect from other players in the league.

How many NBA teams would choose Rafer over Francis........since you know so much.

Funny how some of the Francis haters would rather have Starbury than Francis. Give me Steve any day, even if Starbury might be nominally more talented than Steve. Steve to his credit is a part of the team, cheerleading from the sidelines and coming to Houston to win at the expense of his game and the personal financial hit. Marbury is a cancer, Steve is a joy.

Adelman said that that James and Alston played better than Steve in the preseason but can he say that now. Steve showed enough on Friday, its time to sit RA and play Steve.

None come to mind, that is what is so ridiculous about this situation. I don't think Rafer starts for any team in this league. Why is he starting for the Houston Rockets? That has been my question for over two years and two coaches. I just don't get it (Morey after playoffs, "We were exposed at the PG position."). Correcto, but, Mr. Morey, have you noticed who is starting?

Probably Portland, who paid him to go away.

Probably Orlando, who wants Dwight Howard to dominate the ball.

Definitely the Knicks, because Isaiah hates Steve.

Absolutely the Rockets, who have about 4 guards ahead of Steve on the depth chart.

None of those teams will take Rafer over Steve except the team he is on. And I don't think that will last. The handwriting is on the wall here in my opinion. It's just a matter of time.

The Rockets havent used a 3rd PG all season, save for th Suns game when it was Alston/Francis/Brooks.

The only way I am outraged at Steve not getting playing time is if its a blowout(20+) with 4 minutes to go and folks like Snyder and Deke get in but not Steve.

As for playing into shape during the games. Um...How can going full speed for 30 minutes overall every other day compare with working hard in practice for 2-3 hrs a day?

Saw a shot of Scola jumping rope on the sideline during warmups.

We do have had a 3rd point guard so far...it's been Luther Head at times, and MJ7 slides over to the 2.

And if you don't understand how playing in actual games is different from practicing hard, you've never played the game. Trust me, it's MUCH faster to get in shape via games than practices.

do you know we tried to get rid of rafer during the summer? unfortunately, no one wants him. we even didn't want him. we have no choice but stuck with him.

at least several teams wants sf.

i am not bashing rafer. he is what he is. to make rox better team, we have to replace rafer to get a pg who knows penetration and finish at the hoop.

Now that is where you show your lack of knowledge. Ask any NBA player there is no substitution for game time. No matter how much you run or practice, there is a certain adrenaline rush and intensity that comes with actual game time experience. Everyone knows it and Francis will feel it for a while, especially if he is only getting rare minutes.

I thought it was common knowledge that when the lights come on and the game is played, it's played on another level altogether. Practice is exactly that. Practice. How often have we heard about players "lighting it up in practice," only to choke in games? Coaches will tell you that there's no substitute for the real thing.

Rafer plays well during practice but when it's game time and under pressure,
he fails to maintain his practice level. He can't even make his FT sometimes
at the end of a game. Unlike Francis (when he was with rockets back then),
he made quite a number of clutch plays at the end of some games.

true dat. Wouldn't mind seeing Deke get some more burn for Yao. Gotta leave Scola at PF. Hayes gives us nothing offensively.

Starting 9 I'd like to see

    PG SF/AB
    SF Scola/Battier
    Yao/Deke
    T-Mac/Wells

    James off the Bench

Ok, the players stay the same but as to positions, you're right.

    PG SF/AB
    SF Wells/Battier
    C Yao/Deke
    SG T-Mac
    PF Scola

    James off the Bench
