Why should he have been? How was he supposed to be elated about drafting someone he knew nothing about?
Email me and I will get you send you a link. and moomoo that wrote Yeah I have signed a record deal and will be selling cd's soon. But you and EVERYONE AT Clutchcity.net should know that if you email me and let me know you are a cc.net-ter I will get the song to you for free. I kinda started wigging out when I heard it on ESPN and radio stations from all over earth were emailing me wanting to play it. So I am releasing a CD at the first of the year with all of me and Kevin's crap. We signed a deal and are gonna see what happens. BTW, just cuz I WILL get you the song for free doesn't mean you don't have to buy one... You just wont HAVE to buy one like the rest of the world. This is the best way I can stay true to my friends and peeps on cc.net and still make some scratch. Chance
i think oski's main beef is that even up to saturday's game people still believed that francis was jealous of yao despite not hearing one negative comment from him. it was completely unfounded. even before this article it's pretty clear that steve has brought it upon himself to make sure yao feels comfortable. that is leadership. somehow he's got this image of a ego driven superstar who can't handle anyone else in the spotlight, but all he's shown is the complete opposite. he's not worried about scoring the most points, grabbing the most rebounds, receiving the most tv exposure, he wants to win and that's it. i don't understand where this other image comes from. it's almost fact that steve was angry at first with the idea of drafting yao but it was also documented that he changed his mind pretty quick after watching tape from carrol dawson. i'd say by the time we actually drafted him to right now, steve has been as happy as any of us.
actually, inspired by your post, I went back and looked. . . and you're right. nobody was really implying that Steve's been onboard from day one. most of the posts seem to be concerned with the here and now. but, you are wrong about one thing. . . I didn't assume anything. if you look, in my initial post, I said these two important words: "could be". I don't pretend to know what it is. if anything, I was cautioning people from assuming it to be one thing or the other. best case scenario: Steve and Ming have beautiful chemistry, and it just keeps getting better and better. that's what I want.
perhaps that's what it sounds like if following a balanced exchange of ideas is challenging for you, gram. however, I will give you credit for the unpredictable nature of your attempt to try to squash open discourse on an internet forum. no one would have expected that clever move.
A quick on-topic note -- they were talking about this on one of the nightly news programs, and Colin Pine said that in China and Chinese, that 'Dynasty" refers to something old and from long ago. So it's kind of like Yao Ming is from the past. It mentioned in the article that Yao Ming didn't fully get the moniker, and here's the explanation behind that.
I for one and impressed with Steve's handling of the situation he has been given and have to admit I was a bit worried that he would get jealous of sharing the spotlight since he projected that image, to me at least, of a ego driven star since I thought he plays a bit selfish. But allof that has changed and I actually like the combination of the two players. Also, I love the fact that Steve made "the Dyansty" official since he was already "the Franchise." The evolution and irony of the nickname at the center position is not lost to me since the fact that the last great center of the Rockets was nicknamed "the Dream"
yeah chievous, thats me, the open discourse squasher. being a bit defensive, huh? i am just amused that based on no facts whatsoever, a whole psychological profile has been created for steve francis. i mean, at least in kobe's public tantrums there was open documentation, because he whines to the media, but yall 'aint even got that! i think it is funny. i mean, hilarious, bro! but hey, if you and tha rest of tha fools on this board really like making those kinda assumptions, go right ahead, it's the holiday season. far be it from me to squash anything you mistakingly choose to call open discourse. merry x-mas!
I don't know about the Yao Ming song actually... haha... it's funny but couldn't help cringing at some of the lyrics... esp. the part where yao ming blocks chewbacca--what the?? Oh also I thought this was funny. For people who don't know, Chinese words have different tones, so the two characters "Yao" and "Ming" said with different inflections can mean one of a large number of things. Yao is a last name and Ming means brightness or something, but the song pronounces it like "want" and "life" which is an expression in Chinese meaning "life threatening" or "disaster." I mean I guess it can be a double entendre, where Yao wreaks havoc and disaster to the team he faces... but I couldn't help but laugh at that. Dunno if anyone else has noticed. The song itself isn't a communist song I don't think. I hear people in Europe and Asia sing it at soccer games. It's a pretty popular tune.
wait--just gonna make it clear that i do like the song and still have it on my computer. there's been a lot of strife on this page lately so i'm gonna just clarify. winkfan--how many posts does it take to be a senior member? 400?
Yao Ming as the "Dynasty" is proper. I'm amazed not only by his size but his skill level. This guy has all the tools to be one of the "greatest of all time". I think by the time all is said and done this guy will have changed the way the game is played.
