"Teammates and Rockets staff members have heard Francis refer to Yao as "Dynasty" more for about a week. But to make sure the nickname sticks, Francis said he is having the We R One apparel company he, Nick Van Exel and Sam Cassell own specially prepare a wardrobe of gear with the word "Dynasty" unmistakably displayed. " Good way to encourage sales, steve.
I don't know if that was meant as a cheapshot, but since your last post was one, I'll assume this was one too. Anyways, you should pay attention to what you quoted. They are preparing a "wardrobe of gear." All they are doing is taking the clothes they already sell, putting Dynasty on it, and giving it to Yao. It's not a new line of clothes, it's a gift for Yao.
I'm really delighted and greatly relieved after reading the article.Thank you, Free Agent. I have come to like Rockets and Francis very much. I am also a Rockets fan now.
Good article (nice to see Stevie embracign Yao), but haven't people been saying Ming Dynasty since he was signed? Heck I know ESPN SC did a peice on one o fthe games we lost last week about the Ming Dynasty crumbling (spoof thing, nothing controversial). With that in mind it seems like Stevie is embracing the nick name, but I really doubt if Stevie was the 1st to tag Ming Dynasty.
Dynasty it is then! That has allways been my favorite nickname anyway. We now have the Franchise and the Dynasty!
great article. maybe now al the people saying that Stevie is Selfish can finally SHUT UP. stevie and Ming will be a great combo
or maybe someone knew it was time for some spin. But more likely, the truth is somewhere in the middle. I think they do get along....and I think it's getting better every game. As for the jealousy.....well, I think that is beginning to wane.
Wouldn't it be kind of weird to be Yao walking around with "Dynasty" on his clothes? I mean, do you think Hakeem walks around with "The Dream" on his sweats? Likewise for "Franchise" and "The Glide".
Just stay where you are, the men in the black helicopters are coming to take you somewhere where they can help you. I always said that I wouldnt use the ignore list, but you are pushing my patience. Try NOT posting for a while and get your dosage pushed up so I can continue to not use my ignore list. Please.
This is probably closer to reality. I'm sure Francis has nothing personal against Yao himself. But some rivalry/jealousy had to be expected -- it's perfectly normal. As long as it is/was only a transient thing. I'm sure there's a little spin going on here. But to me, this situation looks better than the Shaq/Kobe truce -- where Shaq's reconcilation/embrace of Kobe was overdone and disingenuous. Still, we know how irrelevant the authenticity of their comraderie was to the Lakers' success.
I'm glad that they get along, and I think this 2 greats could bring us a few championships. Let's pray they both stay healthy.
Yao and Stevie sat next to each other the bench at the end of the game and they were joking up a storm. I swore Stevie was showing him how to use his body on a reverse jam so no one can even contest his shot.
1) I love steve. 2) this is not meant to inspire controversy. 3) it is just an opinion. regard it as such. I actually think that steve's overt attempts to embrace ming throughout this season could be indicative that his reported hesitance about the big fella was correct. he could be sort of overcompensating. which, if he is, I applaud because it could show that steve is big enough to admit when he's been wrong, and it also shows that he recognizes ming is someone who can help him reach his goals. these are great things. however, I don't think that just because steve is going out of his way to help ming now that that necessarily means all the stuff about him being against the pick was wrong.
Man, some homers don't believe what is right in front of them. Francis DID question the Ming pick, and he did question the Rockets organization for picking him. Francis was THE star of the Rockets. Now there is a very real possibility that he will become just a co-star. Francis IS human. Unless he isn't human, he probably has some mixed emotions over this whole thing. BUT He IS doing all the right things now. He IS appreciating Yao and Yao's contribution to the team. Why can't you give credit where credit is due......but without being in complete denial about what went on in the not so distant past?
