toodles, SamFisher. go back to defending steve's team play, humility, and bball iq; but do it in a different thread. steve's already proven his deficiencies in here. au revoir.
i'm not mr. cleo, but i do know that if steve doesn't change the way he plays the game, and if yao doesn't impact the game more than he has, we won't make the playoffs. i also know that steve is an arrogant punk who has no clue how to play point guard. bookmark that.
Find one post in this thread where I defended any one of those things. I'll save you some time, I didn't. I said 2 things: 1. stated I was sick of repetitive b****ing, and 2. stated that analysis of his quotes was needlessly hypercritical.
in this thread, no. of course, steve's been pretty well roasted in here, and his own comments provided the lighter fluid. but your past speaks for itself, SamF.
Really? Do tell about my past. What does it say? And more presciently, what SHOULD it have said? Apparently saying the magic words is as important for me as it is for Steve Francis, no?
well, there's no magic search button to search for your magic words, SamF. of course, you know this already. besides, all you'd do is reinterpret what you meant to say back then to conform with your present beliefs. it'd be pointless....just like the rockets are...without a point.
But when the team won and Francis was statistically outplayed by the other teams' guards, he still gets bashed. The Rockets won 3 out of 4 games against the Suns last year, but I still read posts constantly about how Marbury outplayed Steve last year head to head. In the game against Boston last year, in Houston, which Houston won, J.R. Bremer was praised for scoring 22 points on Steve when Steve had better stats and the win. It doesn't matter what Steve does, he will get bashed. Should Steve have responded directly to the points issue, probably not. But I'm sure he was asked specifically about the points and he just responded to that question. If he says, points are not important, just that we get the win, I'm sure someone will take issue with that. It just doesn't even matter anymore what he says.
there's some merit to what you're saying, pgab. there is. it's kind of like catching your girlfriend cheating, but staying with her. from that point on, you're never really going to believe what she says...even if she's telling the truth. the "trust" bond has been broken. steve's sometimes ridiculous decision making, and usually absurd comments have broken the "trust" bond with the fans. now, we don't "trust" him running the team. the only answer, imo, is either to break up, or make him the "on the side ho".
What are my present beliefs? What should they be? Should we all just chime in with the Greek Chorus of "Francis sucks! Francis sucks! Francis sucks!", win or lose, rain or shine? That would be awesome if everybody did that.....
I believe odysseus was known for his eloquence and diplomacy. And what is Troy in this analogy? I'm a bit lost.
When the Greeks had lain siege to Troy for ten years, without results, they pretended to retreat. They left behind a huge wooden horse, in which a number of Greek heroes, among whom Odysseus, had hidden themselves. The spy Sinon convinced the Trojans, despite the warnings of Laocoon, to move the horse inside the city as a war trophy. In the following night, the Greeks left the wooden horse and attacked the unsuspecting and celebrating Trojans, and finally conquered Troy. Trojan Horse
NO MORE EXCUSES FRANCIS! QUIT WORRYING ABOUT YOUR STATS! QUIT BEING SELFISH. QUIT WASTING MY MONEY. DON'T GET ME WRONG. I AM A DIE HARD ROCKETS FAN BUT I AM FED UP WITH STEVE, CAT, MOOCHIE, AND MO. I WANT TO SEE WINS! I WANT TO SEE EXCITING BASKETBALL. I AM NOT GOING TO GO TO ANY MORE GAMES UNTIL I SEE TEAM BALL!!!!
Steve has neither a point guard's mentality, nor a point guard's vision of the court, nor a point guard's passing skills. In an earlier clip this year, when asked by a commentator whether in the framework of him being a point guard, "...do you think shoot or pass first?..." Steve grinned and said shoot. In the current NBA commercial running on League Pass, different stars give a very short essence of what they are all about. Steve Nash says "the perfect pass". Steve Francis says "the crossover". Some people like to say Steve is a "modern day point guard". "Modern day point guard" must mean your team doesn't get very far in post season. New Orleans may make some noise this year, but Davis does things a traditional pg does in addition to scoring.
