you have to understand the basketball players slang.

"run" is playing in a full court game. my friends call me up on the weekends to "get some run." if you're at a park playing a pickup game, and you never get picked up, well you "didn't get to run."

lets say you were steve, and you haven't played since pre-season. you might say "i haven't run in 9 days, except on a treadmill." it's a play on words. he's using both the slang and literal meanings.

he's saying that he's trying to get in shape, doesn't want to cause a distraction, and though he obviously physically runs in practice, he hasn't had a chance to play in a game in a while.

No that's not my point at all. My point is that right now Steve shouldn't be in the rotation because he isn't earning it.

But I started with the point that people are being unfair when claiming that he isn't doing anything to get in shape, that he's causing a disruption and problems, etc.

There are reasons why he wasn't in the best shape, he is doing workouts to improve his conditioning and get into shape, he is talking with the coach, and stating that he doesn't want to be a distraction or cause controversy. I just don't understand why the need to try and twist it into something it isn't.

Correct: Steve shouldn't be in the rotation right now.

Incorrect: He isn't trying to get in shape, he's causing problems for the team and being a complainer and locker room cancer.

I will say that, especially if we build a comfortable lead tonite, Steve should get some floor time even though he isn't "officially" part of the rotation. If not, then maybe the only way to get him in the game is for the home crowd to chant his name until Rick submits...which he will. Make it happen. I want to see Steve on the floor tonite...even if he misfires and turns it over. Steve should be on a f-ing mission for playing time. Every one should play a little in the home opener IMO.

    Totally agree.
I think it's time to stop this out-of-rotation nonsense. Adelman needs to realize that Steve needs playing time to help get into shape. His point was made by sitting Steve out for the 1st 2 games...IT'S TIME to move on for the team's sake.

Steve's problem is he's running like the runs, and the team offense often ran like the runs when he's in there and not running correctly. Ironic, perhaps, that the team runs like the runs because Steve causes them to not run as fluidly, and when they stop running, they stagnate, but they are like the runs.

I seriously don't want steve to be last year's bonzi. I mean, look at what the right attitude and coaching has done to Bonzi--I mean I love that we have this "new" player on our team(bonzi). With the right attitude,(an RA coaching), steve can make the same transformation in 2-4 months and contribute THIS year.

    "impossible is nothing"

Nope, bonzi still has talent and was held back last year by jvg. Stevie's talent diminished years ago. Also he was always one of the most overrated players to ever play in the nba, so he didn't have much real talent to begin with. Get the damn cancer off the rockets before it's too late!

a healthy and WILLING stevie is better than a 100% alston and mike james.

Steve just has to fight his personal demons, and if he wins, then Houston wins. If not, then Stevie could single-handedly mess up the whole season both for his lovers and haters

stevie franchise has confidence when he runs the point and doubt he'll turn over like alston in the fourth under the clutch situations.....no diss on alston because he does great but in the 4th he's tought to watch.

Francis is the man and still has it in him. was I the only that say him against memphis in the pre? he'll get his chance and he'll shine

dude, you are way off base here, I gotta tell you. You could make every argument that a 40 pound fatter, slower bonzi last year had zero potential and all of his talent was left in the past, what was JVG to do with Bouncey-Whales?

Name me one player that entered the league 8-10 years ago whose talent hasn't diminished?

I don't care if he was overrated or not, but I will tell you that he had and has real NBA talent. No one is saying that he is a superstar or allstar now and I will even agree it was a stretch to call him a star or allstar in his prime. BUT, he has real NBA talent and can and should help this team down the stretch of this 82 game circus.

Steve is younger than alston and james. He's been an all star before. Last year, his worst year, he put up similar numbers as alston. He deserves a shot at the very least. Alston assaults his girlfriend, spits on people, and stabs a person but around here he's God. What gives?
