Shouldn't we all be Steve supporters since he's ON OUR TEAM??

Again, for some the hate for Steve is much greater than for their love for the Rockets.
    Pretty Pathetic.

"We talked. I don't want to be in any confrontation with anybody. If he decides to play me, I know I'm 1,000 percent ready even though I haven't run in about nine days besides on a treadmill."
    ==============
sounds like Bonzi from last year...

Steve needs to get into shape, drop 10 pounds, then he will see floor time.

The ideal situation for Steve's game has always been in an offense where he is allowed to dominate the ball, playing alongside a great defensive guard that can cover the better player at the one or two. Unfortunately for Steve, he is not good enough to carry a team, so only a bad team would have him dominate the ball (see the Rockets between Dream/Chuck and Yao). The worst offense for Steve to play in is one where he has to catch and shoot or spot up behind the arc. Unfortunately for him, with Yao and TMac, most guards are going to need to catch and shoot, usually spotting up behind the arc.

No guards in the Adelman offense should not just be expected to spot up and shoot. That's a JVG Offense. Guards on the Adleman offense are expected to move with the ball. Get open and shoot good shots wherever they receive the ball or get the pass on the move driving to the hole coming off a screen. Francis should at least do well when he figures out where to move and receive the ball but I think it's Francis's decision making on passing the ball that is hurting him. Maybe it's all of it but it is certainly not the oversimplication that guards in RA's offense spot up and shoot. Gawd, no more JVG analogies pleaaaazzzzeeeeeee!!!!

I understand your premise and I totally agree that this is different from JVG where guards just have to spot up and shoot. but I disagree on what steve has lacked, i wrote that steve doesn't over dribble anymore in the offseason and he doesn't.

steve has passed the ball, when he played in that pre season game against memphis, he played well, he got Yao his first points in the flow of the offense, steve cannot spot up and shoot jump shots, or he just doesn't like to. its that simple

Running on a treadmill might well be Francis' way to get in shape. He said he doesn't want to get into a confrontation, and is working his way into shape using the treadmill.

Once again I think it's a real stretch to try and turn this into something bad coming from Francis. He said all the right things here. It's very difficult for this to be somehow a bad thing.

I'm curious to see how this all will turn out.

But, yes, Steve needs to bust his balls and work his ass off and prove himself to everybody.

That's a point I tried to raise in another thread. It's not like Francis has been lazy. He was hurt and had surgery. Most guys are going to be in less than perfect shape. With rehab from surgery and a knee injury, he is going to be limited as to what kind of conditioning work he could do.

That being said, there are no excuses for playing time. Even though he might have valid reasons for not being in the best shape, playing time should still go to whoever earns it.

Question: How do you think SF would best fit on this team in terms of his role (starter, reserve or scrub) and how he can help the offense (skillset)? I wanted (and still want) him to replace Rafer and be the starter backed up by MJ. At this point, I think he may be better suited playing with the reserves when Tracy and Yao are not on the court together. If SF cannot or will not shoot jumpshots, I doubt he will play a significant role here. To succeed without dominating the ball, he's gonna have to learn to shoot after receiving a pass without creating his own shot.

To sum up a few other posts:

Steve can be the best player on a bad team but he can't be a good or even decent player on a great team.

Umm when in his career has he been on a good team? Yeah that's right, this is the first team he's been on that is a real playoff contender and a possible championship contender. How can you even say he can't be good or decent on a great team when he's never been on a team as good as this one?

He did have to do that because otherwise, he will not get any playtime like... now. Bonzi also practically did not play for one year and was out of shape since one year ago. Bonzi get his body ready before the season started.

Francis just need to shut up and ride the bike for 2 hours after each practice for a full month.

He's not getting old just yet. It's just that his mind was messed up since JVG days and lost his identity. His mind is still not recovered from that after 3 transactions. Need to see a shrink.

    Blame it on JVG!

i'm confused. your telling francis to shut up, and blaming it on jvg? jvg had nothing to do with francis right now. and i'm pretty sure francis didn't go up to a reporter and said that. reporters probally asked him about that.

and that's all that needs to be said. if steve was ready to contribute right now, adelman would be playing him. period.

but let me guess... adelman hates steve too, right?

Our coach shouldn't have to worry about pleasing the 12th man.

    Seriously.

Right. Blame the rain on JVG too. While you're at it, why don't you blame children suffering in Africa on JVG too?
