Great news. I think UH has potential. I'm excited as a coog alum. I got an email from my old chemistry professor talking about helping students and students helping UH reach tier 1 status. To even think about students respecting your athletic program, UH needed new stadiums. Great start. Those pictures make me want to attend UH athletics games

Very cool. Miguel's probably right, but still nice to see a plan in place.

As long as Texas & A&M are in the B12, TCU and UH add no value from a $$ perspective. The only scenario where TCU/UH join is if Texas & A&M bolt, but the conference holds enough pieces to maintain a conference. Still very possible, but not really clear if that will happen.

heard about this yesterday, i am also annoyed that it took all the realignment talk to finally get some plans out. regardless, im glad there is some plan in place.

The sketch of renovated hofheniz doesn't look that different or impressive though... it just looks like they turned the lights on, draped red over everything, put TVs in the ceiling, and made some sort of balcony overlooking the court. regardless, any sketch looks impressive if every seat is filled. maybe if they detailed the renovations a little bit more it would make it more palatable.

It's definitely possible but I doubt it'll happen. Bebee has made it known that he doesn't want to add more schools from Texas. BYU, Airforce, and Utah have been rumored to be possible "replacement" schools if the Big 12 somehow manages to survive this.

Also, glad to hear UH is gonna make improvements to their facilities.

I think that rendering of Fantasy Hoffheinz is pretty great, actually. It looks like a basketball arena. That locker room imagining is pretty great, too.

I like that the football stadium rendering has a cutaway downtown view, but apart from that, it's tough to get a feel for the place. Ultimately, it's the people that make a place like a football stadium. I like Robertson, but it's from an era that is long over. Onward and upward.

I'm really happy for UH and I really like all the renderings as well. Good for UH = good for Houston in general, and I can always get behind that.

I'm not an alum, but HTown is my home. Go Coogs.

Good news for the Coogs and the city of Houston. It was nice to see the city somewhat get behind U of H last season and better facilities would only increase the likelihood of bringing in good athletes and staying competitive. I hope this actually happens.

Awesome news for the city. Its been a long time coming. I have to think that this will help in recruiting and getting the program where it should be.

where is it getting the money. Does UH football generate enough income to justify it?

as an architect, i can tell you that they didn't just draw this up when the conferences started to bust wide open. Images and projects like this takes months of planning before you can have enough information to release to the public.

UH students. Tuition has gotten more expensive each year I've attended for the last 4 years.

from what i understand all the funding for athletic facilities has to be private, you cannot do it with tuition increases..

What, I'm supposed to believe you now?

We are talking about at least $100 billion in revenue every semester. It's being paid with the tuition revenue.

could you expand upon this a little more? I'd be interested to know what really goes into this. They said the planning cost 250k alone, so I'm just wondering how that was spent on the process. I definitely believe that this was in the works for quite some time, but I think that the conference reshuffling made them push it out faster than they would have.
