It's about time for fresh thinking at the Rockets HQ !
Already Morey has convinced himself that the present Houston Rockets Team is a 60 win team. Even if that was remotely possible, they still would not be a contender, just first round fodder.
I say no deadbeat coaches to coach the team next year[No Larry Brown for sure]
No deadbeat players signed as minor tweeks to the team [No Chis Webber or Bonzi Wells for sure]
Les needs to see the light and then light a fire under Morey's imagination.
For inspiration Morey should see a rerun of Chariots of Fire before he makes his mind up about anything. He must think with fresh targets, otherwise just keep Van Gundy and go on till Les makes a big loss and then there will be action!
I would like to see trades and signings to include players with heart like
Jefferson of the Celtics, Ron Artest of the Kings and Josh Smith of the Hawks. To get players at this talent level we may have to trade some of our untouchables.

If we could move Juwan for Mike James, it would give us a lot more versatility in picking up a 4 and some depth. However, I don't know if they would do it just to lose one year on a contract.

Yes it was. the deal was one. we sip out juwan to minny for james and then lucas to denver foe keilza to replace howard.. as we saw that keilza kid is turnedout to be a awesom bench bench player for denver..

For those asking if he will lead us to a title....was JVG leading us to a title? We need a talent upgrade for any coach to win a ring with our squad.

But you know what....THE GAMES WON'T BE BORING!!!! For the past 4 seasons I have watched the Rockets purely because I love the team, not because the games were actually fun to watch. I miss good basketball......

you thought the games were boring in 04-05 with barry and sura? i don't believe that for a second. that was as exciting as i've seen a houston team since maybe 97. van gundy can have an offense.

I wouldn't mind getting Adelman if that somehow meant keeping Bonzi and bringing in Mike Bibby. I don't know how they would do the latter, however.

Yes. Check our offensive rankings from that season. We still played the same pound it, slow the game down style of ball.

Yes same as San Antonio. Slow it down and pound it in. Cept for one thing. The Spurs are stacked at every position. Anyways..with regard to Adelman, it ain't a done deal yet. No papers have been signed and if I were Les, I'd be interviewing other candidates before making a decision. At least two or three more. We need a motion offense but I'd love to keep the Van Gundy Defense. Why can't we just have both?

By the way, Nellie or D'Antoni ball can be exciting and I still believe that Phoenix can win it all thus proving that you don't have to be the Spurs or Detroit style team to win a title. Right now the series between the Spurs and the Suns is the clash of Titans. Whoever wins that series is likely to be the Western Conference Champions.

Princeton Offense with Pete Carrill was interesting to watch but all those backdoor cutters and plays...tell ya what..after a while it got sorta boring to watch. But it did make up for a lot of slow braniacs at Princeton and gave them a shot in the NCAA tournament. I still want the Rockets to run the Triangle but if not the that offense then something with a lot of motion in it. It'll get people free with cutters and screens to free up players. I like this a whole lot better than pound the ball to Yao then kick it out to Head Battier or McGrady. At least not all the time.

Guess we are going back to Rudy T style Motion Offense with Iso plays.

no we didn't. i've watched every minute of every rockets game since the championships, i don't need need to look at the offensive rankings to know what the team looked like. that 04- 05 team was freaking fun.

tinman - i'm not arguing pro or against van gundy, just pointing out a fact that it's not just boring basketball. not that one game 7 discredits whether most of an entire season was good basketball or not.
