Different coach might make Alston a smarter player.. never know. really the PG spot won be alterd because we got no other options.noone will touch alston's contract with a 50 foot bardge..

if u guys noticed, his portland teams were great hustling defensive teams.

his kings team started out as horrible defensive teams b/c the players weren't committed. but like dallas now, they continued to improve and eventually nearly knocked out the lakers.

we have the players to still be great defensively: tmac and battier on the perimeter, yao continuing to improve his post game; hayes.

but we really lack creativity offensively. adelman WILL change that. he can coach stars. webber, bibby, divac, miller were at their best under him. hopefully he'll utilize tmac and yao better and not just have plays like JVG where basically only a few plays but run it to death.

but we need to get better shooters to make this work still. alston/howard just won't get it done, esp. w/ how much alston plays.

Probably because he doesn't want to coach anymore. He's apparently enjoying life as a Lakers scout.

yeah, and DaDakota mentioned it months ago - guessing right and reporting are not the same things. Over a week has transpired since Wang Meng "reported" it.

I will do you the honor of agreeing with you.

He is weak compared to the true greats. It is a hard test to pass, and an ultra high bar - but so far he has shown he doesn't measure up.

It doesn't matter who coaches if player upgrades are not made. Take this exact team with Adleman as the coach next season and you will see another first round exit. On the other hand, keep JVG but upgrade the PG and this team goes to the second round next year.

he's not. it's still up to tmac improving his J and yao improving his overall dominance to carry us. but what adelman will do is help our role players. u remember terry porter being good under him in portland? hopefully he'll have that kind of impact on our role players. and his offensive system emphasizes MOVEMENT, which ours lacked tremendously under JVG. it's give it to tmac/yao and stand still and wait for the pass out and shoot. that ain't gonna work.

adelman will help us, not hurt us. but he won't save us if the team continues to not add to the team w/ shooters and rebounders.

I just figured he was right for the job......and never thought JVG was right.

I know it's going to be tough, but priority #1 this off season should be getting a new point guard. Hell, I'd settle for Chucky Atkins.

i dont think so. we became too dependent on the 3 as a whoel this yr simply b/c our perimeter players wouldn't move a jack. if tmac was in the post, no one moved. same w/ yao. same w/ battier. adelman would make sure they would continue to move to force the defensive rotations and so on. DID U SEE HOW UTAH KEEP MOVING THEIR FOOLS AROUND? that caused us to foul a lot more as the series wore on.

MIKE JAMES. sign him and we'll be legit at that position. james wants to play minutes, then play him alston minutes. w/ head backing him up.

I admit I don't know if he can or can't coach defense but I would like to know how can the roster be populated with athletes instead of our slow paced players because nobody would want them. I'm not including Yao Ming in this scenario because I still want to retain him.

Adelman is my first choice so far! I think he is a terrific coach. Hopefully, Morey Eel will find a gem during the NBA draft & find some reasonably priced free agents that would fit Adelman's BB style, or maybe a trade, even a minor one, that would benefit the Roxs! Les, make it so! ;) :)

Is James a free agent? if francis gets boughout that would be great.
Francis/Alston combo would be a entertaining combo if nothing else..

I don't think the coaching is the important aspect. I think that maybe, because Bonzi Wells enjoyed playing for him, we may see Bonzi re-emerge. Also, Artest loves him, and they are looking to trade him- maybe we can somehow get Artest (but for the love of God, who exactly would they take from our roster??). I think that, if Adelman can somehow bring in the right players and utilize the bench more, it will be worth doing.

I think the team made the decision for JVG.

he's not gonna play in minny that's for sure since randy foye is now their guy. and i think minny would do anything to give him away.

i actually prefer james to francis. james can actually shoot from the 3pt line. francis might penetrate better but we dont need penetration all the time from our PG. james is still good at penetraton, but easily he can shoot.

i want van gundy back and i still do, but i would be satisfied with adelman.

it's going to be difficult if not impossible to find an available coach as good on defense as jeff and i think offensively we can be just fine with the right players. certainly van gundy had a hand at picking this team out so he partly built his own boat, but i'm not in the group that thinks he's inadequate offensively.

adelman will be interesting. certainly vspan will get a better shot, and heck maybe even bonzi will try and actually get in shape.
