What I meant is it's up to both sides because the Rockets won't want him unless his act is totally back together. If Bonzi wants the MLE, he can hit the road now because the Rocket will not give it to him.

This is just my opinion but if the Rockets weren't at least considering bringing him back they would have released him long ago. And now with the possibility of Adelman coming on board , who seemed to have no problems getting Bonzi to play like an All Star, you have to think the Rockets would want to take a second look at Bonzi. Bonzi was one of the top players in the playoffs last year under Adelman and if he brings even half of that ability the Rockets will have a second low post player to assist Yao.

    *COUGH* game 5

worst example of a motivated player that I have ever seen

Well, I guess they do want Adelman. Though I am very skeptical of him, I guess that at least the fact that management is thinking change is a step in the right direction

    QUESTION FOR THE BOARD ???

We all know Sac was a bad defensive team under Adelman...

What kind of "defensive" team Portland was when they went to the final twice with Adelman ?????

Can someone please answer my question ....

Hopefully with the defensive mindset that is already instilled in some of these guys and Adelman's offense it will be an improvement if we do get him.

If we're going to run a similar offense to what Sacramento had, we're probably going to be looking for a PF that can shoot and pass. I also look forward to the possibility of bringing Yao out to the top of the key at times and letting him shoot it, since that part of his game has been abandoned the last couple of years. It'll give him more touches and our offense won't be so predictable. It'll also keep some of the playmaking responsibilities off of Mcgrady, so he can run around and get more easy baskets slashing to the basket.

Bonzi signed a contract that has the 2nd year guaranteed, but it is a players option, meaning Bonzi has to excercise it or not....The Rockets have NO choice in the matter...NONE !

This would be a downright Coupe. this guy is a winner.he's system is all about passing and getting open shots. with tracy and he's playmaking ability, he'll have a MVP type year again. yao would be free to use he's skill set alot more. he would be a more inside/outside threat.

I think i was he st one to mention that bonzi would excersise he's player option and return if Adelman is hired. Rick knows how to motivate bonzi... heck even artest might demand a trade to houston

    PG:Alston
    SG:Mac
    SF:Artest
    PF:Hayes
    C:Ming
Thats a title contender right there.

Methinks you already knew the answer before you asked the question.

Adelman always has a defense assistant coach with him. No worries for defense. But Adelman is a offense coach, so his lineup is mostly offense players. Adelman wont play 3.5 offense players in a start lineup for defense sake. So, it really depends on how good those offense players can play defense.

If Alston is our starting point next year, I'm going to be very disappointed.

I wouldnt mind seeing what Adleman could bring to Houston, but does anyone believe that Adleman would bring Houston a Championship in the next year? How about in 2 years. Outside of that, Mac, and Yao are NO longer in their prime. Your talking about reining in the players under your offense, building chemistry with your players, fine tuning the roster to meet the coaches needs. And putting it all together. Usually this takes a few years. Do the Rox have this much time with Mac, and Yao?

You can't use Portland as a gauge for Adelman's defensive coaching ability...it was in the Illegal D days and that is nothing like the current NBA Zone of today.

But I for one am not worried because conceptually, I feel Adelman would populate the squad with athletes as oposed to VG's one-dimensional players that fit his system and are basically worthless elsewhere.

So the real question is not whether Adelman can coach defense...the real question is whether he can turn over the roster fast enough to get enough athletes playing the passing lanes and forcing transition tempo. IMHO, he can.
