I think they just want to cover themselves... Rick Adelman has to be a pretty hot commodity these days, they need to get the foot in the door first or else he might get hired elsewhere.

They played good defense once Artest got there last year.

Which goes to show you, even good coaches can't make chicken soup out of chicken crap. Give them the horses and they'll go to work.

How JVG won 52 games with the injuries to the stars and the players we had is beyond me.

Don't think Adelman will do any better with the talent we have.

Oh, yeah. It'll be real nice. Because if there aren't any threads in here about firing the head coach, you won't be in Houston. You'll be in Heaven.

The writing is on the wall, JVG will never stay with them interviewing other candidates now.

Just as I said, he is done, it is all just posturing now.

This organization has always played the PR game and tried to be secretive.

The only time they blew that was when they revealed their draft plans and got screwed by Portland.

Assistant coach Gundy is gone and good riddance to him

He needs to catch up on some sleep to get those bag scetches out of his eyes.

But that Kings team have so many weapons:
Chris Webb, Brad Miller, Peja, Mike Bibby, Bobby Jackson, Hedo Turkoglu, Christie...

Current Rockets roster is not nearly as talented as that team ...

What would be interesting is how Yao would be used in this kind of offense. Vlade Divac was regarded as an excellent passing big man, and Adelman's offense allowed him to showcase this skill more. Yao is also an excellent passer, but in JVG's offense, he was asked to pass out of the double team rather than in a motion offense.

Thing is, he didn't do anything new or creative to have the Rockets on that miraculous roll when Yao went down.

    1. McGrady decided to channel some McGrady circa 2004-2005. He went back to becoming the #1 option. That led to a faster pace game and...
    2. Juwan Howard was hitting everything that was given to him. He plays a lot better in the "PF-shooting-jumpers" mode than the "PF-needs-to-rebound-because-Yao-can't-box-out" mode. He got on a roll and...
    3. Mutombo played better than anyone expected out of him. He blocked shots and rebounded at about a 13 rpg clip for a good stretch. But don't forget...
    4. Battier and Head were shooting better than they were when Yao came back.

Things were moving faster and that was because Yao was out. Is it better NOT to have Yao? Far from it, but I don't give Van Gundy more credit than anyone else during that crazy run. He played the players that he was FORCED to play and it happened to have worked...much like that magical run we had two years ago when Barry/Sura/James/Wesley was knocking 3s from all over the court.

Maybe but that's because this team has too many "specialists" on the roster. You need balance on both sides of the court. On offense, you can't expect Yao and McGrady to lead the way for 82 games and then again in the playoffs. You need more playmakers and guys that can create their own shots. When you rely so much on one or two players, that spells out nothing but trouble. Then on defense, there were too many times when they relied on Battier or Yao to get the defense going while the others just hoped that, after their man blew by him, their teammate would come over to help.

That's why we need a better coach who is able to assemble those weapons.

For Adelman to qualify, he is required to bring Artest and Bibby , just like JVG brought Ewing Ward Spoon here
