vengence - thanks for the info rockets2k - i like the phase theme. its pretty simple and clean. this browser is pretty nice. its not loading for me too quickly, but its the first time around for a lot of webpages and most images arent cached yet. has anyone had it split in two yet? i had an address and google search bar side by side. at first i thought it might be to open two pages side by side, but i couldnt get that to work. maybe its just a glitch?
also, is there a way i can get my "mouse-overs" to work again? they dont work now. i didnt know that was specific to IE.
For me, it's all pinball, all the time. I've been using this theme for around 3 years -- first on Mozilla, then Firefox. weakfromtoday -- post a pic of what you're describing with regards to the split. I don't quite understand. Your mouseovers probably were coded for IE only. One can make mouseovers using javascript to work in all browsers.
whats the difference btw Mozilla and firefox?? been using mozilla in part for a year or so... might move across full time... is there a way to get favourite across on mass????
Firefox is JUST the browser, whereas the full mozilla has mail, newsgroup, chat, etc. built-in. The Mozilla suite will eventually die, and Firefox will become Mozilla. It's more optimized, faster, and supports the extensions that help make it so awesome. The new firefox nightly builds have an IE converter built-in. To export bookmarks/favorites from IE and into firefox do this: Export from IE by going to File->Import and Export, then exporting bookmarks/favorites to an HTML file. <a href="http://support.earthlink.net/mu/1/psc/img/walkthroughs/windows_9x_nt/browsers/ie_5.0/5411.psc.html">Here's an illustration</a>. To import them into Firefox, go to Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks. Then, in the bookmark manager, click on File->Import , select the file where you exported the favorites/bookmarks from IE, and click Ok. *Poof* they're in.
I had this happen when I was installing some extensions. A browser restart fixed that problem. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ""Bother!"" said Pooh, as he deleted C:\WINDOWS. tagline coutesy of Tagzilla
The only complaint is that i cant get the Clutch chat to work with Firebird. I have installed the plugin twice and still cant get it to work. It not a big deal as i can use MS IE for chat.
Are you using XP/2k by any chance? I had the same problem with Linux...but then I snapped and realized I had to have administrator permissions to install java correctly. http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/faqs/java.html#Win32 is the location of the install instructions for installing Java for Firefox in Windows. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- " Despite the high cost of living, it remains popular."
Type ALT+D or CTRL+L CTRL+K takes you to the google search. <a href="http://texturizer.net/firefox/keyboard.html">Here's a list of key commands</a>
Sigh, lemme think how many browswers I have gone through: Netscape, Hotjava, Opera, Mozilla, MSN, Sarafri, .....
I assume Firefox can be used to connect to FTP sites just as IE can? I plan on downloading it just as soon as I get home from work. I would install it on my work computer here, but the IT department gets their panties all in a wad if you install ANYTHING without their approval (even simple screen savers)...and I really don't feel like going through the hassle involved to try to get them to approve this.
Hmm....not sure...I use a dedicated ftp client for that. and as far as the IT dept...I would be willing to bet that they probably all use it already Techies are always the first ones to go with better software.
I downloaded FireFox around the first time Vengeance recommended it I guess, and if not for Opera it would be the browser of my choice. The one feature that puts Opera ahead IMO is the mouse gestures. I have become addicted to them. It is just so much easier to browse with them. About the one negative thing that gets mentioned for Opera is that it isn't free, or if you use their free version you get a banner ad in the top right hand corner integrated into the browser. I use the free version and I can honestly say that the positioning of the banner makes me hardly notice it. For me it is not a nuance at all. But had it not been for me converting to Opera a while back I would certainly be a FireFox user now.
You can download an extension to add mouse gestures. Opera is cool in that it's not IE, and it really was an innovator in a lot of areas that other browsers use now (like tabs). I've used Opera before, and I don't like it that much, but the new Opera 7 is pretty cool.
