Anyhow, regarding Feigen's comments about Lowry and the PG situation, he makes some good points. Assuming we do make the playoffs, I would be worried about Brooks trying to lock down a guy like Kidd or Williams. Lowry has a far better chance at doing that. It sounds like he could actually be a very good defensive player despite also being undersized in terms of height.

If Lowry is really that much better and driving and kicking than both Alston and Brooks (which isn't necessarily saying much), he will likely take Brooks starting job, assuming Brooks gets it in the interim.

There is no question Lowry is better at getting to the line, something we haven't had from a PG since Francis' glory days.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Lowry and Brooks, regardless of who starts. I'm sure we'll see some things that neither of them can do as well as Alston but I believe we'll also see a lot of things they do better.

I like the deal, AB is gona get a chance to shine, Lowry has alot of promise and Brent Barry will continue to be a mentor to both. This trade has alot of upside to it. Sad to see Alston go but im very optimistic about this deal. Good work MOrey.

    LOL... Zing!

He did often understate that aspect of Rafer's game.

    pretty good write up.

I was one of Rafer's earlier critics. But I haven't been very critical towards him for a while, I guess I get used to him, or more used to live with his short-comings. I was pretty critical towards Brooks recently. But Alas, now it's the time the kids show what they can do.

Really, BB obviously is a good mentor to young players.
Morey did a good job, also, Alston now has the chance to go for Champion.
    Congrats to him.

rafer's biggest weakness is his shooting, and that includes range shooting and finishing at the rim. other than that, he's a decent starting pg. the problem was he played for us, an offense that features yao. his weakness seemed worse than it actually was. i'd be interested to see how he fares in orlando.

i think alston is underrated defensively so i'm intrigued to see what kind of defense lowrey is going to bring if the consensus is that he's an upgrade.

i've never worried about brooks defense because rarely do any pg's post up and hey if chauncy billups wants to spend his time posting up brooks rather than draining 3's or driving and creating shots, then more power to him. the bottomline is that brooks isn't big, but he's plenty fast enough to stay in front of his man and limit penetration which exposes yao ming to fouls. that's far more important than whether or not he's gonna get posted up.

I didn't initially like the trade as alston runs the offense well, particularly since mcgrady is out, but i said it before, morey has yet to give us a reason to doubt him.

could be mostly curiosity, but the season has new life in it.

    about the same feeling here.

first i thought the trade didn't make a lot of sense, though i couldn't say it's a bad trade, either.

didn't remember that lowry was the one whom we tried to get in that year's draft.

still, the move looks a bot too dicey for my taste, since we're kinda counting on 2 youngsters to deliver NOW. but again, given all the circumstances, maybe getting the dice rolling is the best we can do for now.
