Not that this is any excuse, but has anyone noticed that in Miami the seats are pretty empty too in the lower bowl? It still seems as though that place gets pretty loud though.
Me and the wife will be in the lower bowl as well on Sat. and we go nuts to every game we go to. I hope it's as loud as the AAC was on Sat. when I went.
So now Dallas is gonna be physical, huh? At home they got the weak jumpshot fouls, the run in front of someone and stop fouls, many bogus looseball fouls on Yao, and now they want to play OUR game? Bring it on, you bunch of pansies. On most of Yao's shots, he was being 'guarded' by Dirk. Go ahead Dirk, knock Yao to the ground. Same goes for you Dampier, who can't even play soft against him without getting in foul trouble. Every out of control drive is no longer going to be a foul, Dirk, Stack, and Howard. If this game becomes a physical war, on our homecourt nonetheless, we will crush them like a bug. Feel free to meet Yao at the basket, cause they aren't gonna call fouls on him for jumping straight up anymore. Personally, I don't think Dallas has it in them to even play that way. Dirk would rather give up 3 uncontested layups rather than take a foul. Ooo, is Keith Van Horn gonna lay the smack down on Tmac? Has Stackhouse even been playing in this series? Maybe people will notice him when he's commiting a flagrant foul. Oh, silly Mavs.
Much like T-MAc and Deke called out Yao before Game 2 to come back strong because they will "ride him", the media and the team are calling the fans of Houston out to "show up" and carry the team emotionally to the next level. The only question remaining is...ARE YOU READY TO ROCK??? I am confident we will show them tonight what "Clutch City" is all about! The Summit spirit lives on!
Coming out and saying that your gameplan is to just foul more and foul harder is pretty much admitting that deep down you know the other team is just plain better. You basically have to resort to side tactics in order to be able to compete. So looks like the Mavs are really lacking in confidence at this point. Rockets need to stomp on their asses in the first quarter tomorrow and kill them off once and for all.
I sit in the lower level. There are a lot of knowledgeable highly supportive fans down there. The difference is, most are older, less balls-to-the-walls type personalities. I can conjure up in my memory at least 4 or 5 couple who are at every game I'm at (I went to about 30 this year). Right behind us there is a couple like this. It's an old man and his wife. They aren't boisterous or loud, but they cheer and support their team. What's more, they comment to each other on the game the whole time, and are usually spot on. They're smart, true fans. If your point was that there aren't enough loud, house-rocking fans in the lower bowl, your spot on, but there are a number of true fans. I'm not old, so I can get loud occassionally, but my yelling is generally pessimistic...I do a good boo (usually at the refs), and like to make fun of the other team and it's players. For some reason, was never the best "go-team" type of fan...though I'll certainly stand up and cheer.
I would safely assume that two-thirds of the bbs cannot/will not be at the games...So if you are (and if you are reading this it probably doesn't even apply to you you have to be two-thirds louder for the down and out/ & out-of-towners on the board
I got playoff tickets and will be at the game. I'm in the lower bowl and will, (as always), be making some noise. I was wondering though, when do the doors open?
Doors will probably open at 7pm, hour and a half before game time, don't know if they are doing the launch party deal outside
I say they make the cheap tickets the lower tickets and put the snobs up by the suites...that way people who dont mind standing and cheering can be heard and seen, and the snobs can sit up top and talk bizz.
Why are rich people who sit in the lower bowl automatically snobs. After going to a number of games at home this season, I saw relatively little difference in noise level between upper and lower bowl...which is really an insult to both sections. Frequently, the only time there is a noticeable difference is when there is some school who is either participating in halftime cheerleading, or involved in someother way, who can be heard in one of the upper level corners.
Rockets games have become more of a social gathering rather than a good ol basketball game. People hang out in the bars and watch on the flat screens and socialize. The actual game is secondary for a lot of people, especially the more expensive seats which are mostly bought by corporate big wigs that could care less or are fair weathered at best about the Rockets. They made it to easy and convenient to hang out at other places rather than the seat you paid for.
it's going to be different tonight - I'm sure the place will be full and rocking - even in the lower bowl It's been several years since I had season tickets - but I remember that the playoff games were entirely different from any regular season game. It'd be dead in there during the regular season but when the playoffs rolled around that place would go OFF I'm sure that it'll be that way tonight. People are fired up about this team.
