Our expected improved pass rush should instantly make our secondary better and, consequently, Dunta expendable.

Get something for him while we can by trading him for a need elsewhere in the lineup.

Really, REALLY disappointed in the way Dunta has conducted himself in this offseason.

    Beginning of the offseason, IIRC.

I cant believe this guy...is he serious here? Terrrrible negotiation job by Robinson throughout this whole process.

Honestly, I wish we drafted a CB early in the draft...and told Robinson he could go ahead and sit for the next two years.

    I agree.

I don't blame him for wanting a long term contract, the injury probably scared him and rightfuly so.

But, He needs to realize the situation and hopefully this will get worked out.

I hope the Texans can sign him since I hate to see some sort of bad sign get labeled on them since I think they try to do the right thing

Dude just missed a whole year and some change, and he's pulling this crap? Give me a break.

Pay your dues, be lucky that you're making 10 mil. a year in times like these.

In my view the Texans offered a very fair market offer of $23 million guaranteed which would have put Dunta among the top contracts for a CB in terms of guaranteed money....Refused. Seriously what is Dunta thinking? Now this?...no.

Dunta is pulling a Haynesworth, let's consider letting someone else eat the sandwich.

I think the numbers are beingg misreported.. I rmr hearing on the radio that Dunta wanted 23 mill but that we had only gone up to 18... This is the only thing that makes sense to me bc it would make no sense for him to turn down 23.

It makes perfect sense if his goal is to no longer work for the Texans.

They're not being misreported. It's been confirmed by multiple reliable news organizations, in print, that Dunta was offered $23m. That definitely trumps something you think you heard a long time ago "on the radio," where hosts make a living out of talking out their asses like all of us. Dunta's just that greedy.

No he just wants out of Houston. Our defense sucks right now and he wants to be on a good Defense team.

Also we have lots of turnover on our D coaching staff.

LOL, that's just silly. Trust me, Dunta loves Houston, and the Texans are one of the more promising situations -- both in terms of personnel talent and overall franchise revenue -- in the league. He likes it here.

99.9% of the time, it's about the money. That's all it is. He saw the Kelvin Hayden contract, and wants to use that as a basis to get him an inflated deal over his value. He's trying to play hardball; we'll see if the Texans blink.

Why would he like it here? He has bad memories of previous seasons and we have never been a winner. Our defense is bad and no one really thinks our #1 draft pick is gonna change that.

We just got a new unproven DC, and could easily be in the bottom half of defenses in the NFL. Our offense moves the ball but is unable to score.

I think he sees his career wasting away and wants to play someplace he can win while he is still at a high level.

We have steadily improved under the Smith/Kubiak regime, and Dunta has been right in the middle of the transformation. If anything, he should want to stay and be part of the first few winning Texans teams (and first playoff teams). He loves Houston and the team, and no one has put in more work here than him outside of Andre Johnson. I think he wants to be here and a lot of this is just blowing smoke; he is a very emotional guy after all, so there's no doubt he was offended that we didn't give him what he wanted.

After all is said and done, I think we'll reach a compromise and pay him a little more than that first offer. I don't know that we should, considering he still wasn't 100% last season, but I think we will.

If it were just Cushing, that's one thing. It's also Antonio Smith, Cato June, the second-round pick, Robinson coming back at full-strength, etc., etc. To quote one of the ESPN analysts this weekend, "the Texans' front seven is absolutely ridiculous." The Texans have an obscene amount of young talent, a great situation from a revenue and facilities standpoint, and one of the softest schedules in the league. You might be pessimistic as a fan, and that's natural. Fans are emotional and prone to snap judgments. But people actually in the organization have a much more rational take. Moreover, if you don't want to argue along those lines, why don't we use his words:

What more does he have to say? He loves it here, as I've heard from countless other people around the team. It's just that he wants to get paid. Every player does. It's about the money, just like it is for virtually every player in every sport. End of story.

No I think he is being albert-type greedy. plain and simple. Our draft record over the last 3 years has been proven as above average due to productivity...I don't see any reason for this not to continue. We have a new DC with the right mindset. Dunta should realize this coming to fruition, but it's not about the team "being good"...It's about the team "paying the most"...

I think Dunta is just trying to play hardball and in the end a deal will be made. But he needs to back off the public threats. That hurts no one but him.

Yeah that sounds like what this is. Although Dunta is burning a lot of bridges with these moves he is making. The truth is, Dunta last season didn't make any major plays outside one or two of them. Heck if I had to choose between the two starters at the end, I'd say J. Reeves had the better season. Also I noticed they usually put Reeves on the faster receivers/deep threats on the field so is D. Rob really that invaluable other then being the best tackler in the secondary?

Personally, I say give him what he wants, get him to sign the tag, trade him if possible, but if he leaves, there is no real issue with that. He has burnt up a lot of good will fans had with some of these public outbursts about the franchise tag. Despite it probably being just about money, he is making it seem like he wants out as soon as possible.
