I could see Drayton telling TP to float Lidge's name around and see what we could get, but to order him to trade Lidge is just stupid. RJ is an idiot.
And who knows...maybe they had a deal until someone reports that the owner demanded a player be traded. I'm sure that did wonders for leverage with other teams. Justice should be banned from the clubhouse.
Purp's worked in a MLB front office for 16 years, and Justice is talking about him like he's clueless - that he's "desperate", that he's "learned something this year" about trade offers getting leaked. It really takes a special kind of narcissism to write some of the crap he does.
Might be too hard to make a big trade during the season but its going to be alot of new faces in 07. Lidge, Everett and Andy P will be gone for sure.
I never liked Justice that much but I really cant stand him now. Even if it was true ....he screwed us by leaking the story....hes a hater and he is just tryin to make headlines....pathetic
This isn't roy's hometown. actually I understand what you mean, berkman, pettitte, bagwell, biggio but I don't think roy is that enamoured with being an astro that he would give drayton a discount.
totally agree, I mentioned this in the reggie bush thread about him holding out for a year. it cause the talk show ratings to go up, but in the end its just a bunch of crap. bush was the topic of the week because of a b.s. article written in yahoo of all places. sometimes I think these guys are all on the same payroll. columnist spews bunk info, talk show host has fiery topic.
Just a little bit of perspective. From talking with some of the facilities people at Minute Made Park, apparently Draton comes up with all kinds of random orders, such as rewiring the feeds on all the video monitors and other stuff that is nearly impossible to do and he does it minutes before game time. They joke about what the next random request is going to be among themselves. While these facilities people told me they all end up having to do his random crap, I'm sure that someone like Purpura who is in a position that is more powerful and more able to have a give and take with Drayon can come up with a way to ignore him or not follow his whims. I find it credible that Drayton might have done something like this, but I find it equaly likely that it wouldn't have been such a big deal when taken in context.
