    The problem with the Danny Granger idea is that the Pacers don't need Asik so getting that deal done would be problematic.

    That would destroy the depth at the 5, 4, and 1 and would just net Bosh....I mean if our idea is to tank then that's a good idea, we still have time to miss the playoffs if we did a deal like that.

    I, too, think it's Granger. Per Codman's post:

    Granger's contract ends after this year and that's a lot of money ($14 million) coming off the books for further flexibility to chase a bigger fish.

    Totally reaching here but "rhythm" and "pace" (e.g. pacer) kind of goes hand in hand.

    This fits Granger to a T. He might not have elite scoring abilities anymore but he can still play average to above average defense.

    Granger can get into people's faces (e.g. LeBron) when he's out there and he plays fairly tough (Someone wanted a Ron Artest type of player...another Indy reference?)

    Trading Lin and fillers for Granger is not out of the question. Would it leave our team in desperate need of a back up point guard? Maybe but I don't think it's more pressing than having a forward that can play decent amount of minutes at the 4 or switch back and forth with Parsons whenever the match up calls for it. Granger can shoot from outside, has respectable defense, and is an expiring contract. The Pacers need a back up point guard moreso than we do and Lin can help them immensely whenever George Hill decides to take his usual vacation during the season.

    "the Penny" thing has me scratching my head as #1 on the Pacers team is Lance Stephenson....would Morey want to try to get Lance with Granger? It's be an awesome haul but what would we have to give up? Lin...TJones...Brewer...? Lin and Asik?

    Having Granger and Stephenson would cover a lot of ground for our defense and give us that "edge" we need against the other teams in the West.

    Wow. That is a heavy price for Houston to pay for a 16.6/6.8 power forward. At a cost of the entire bench and all of the PF depth. Take a Xanax and post tomorrow.

    Trading Lin plus parts for Granger makes sense on the court for both teams.

    Monetarily not sure it makes sense for the Pacers with Lance Stephenson due for a huge raise this summer.

    The asking price if you can get Rondo is said to be two unprotected first rounders. NBA.com

    lin or asik (for salary reansons) + 2013 and 2015 Houston first for Rondo

    it is too much

    Can you all take this garbage over to the trade thread? That is where mindless speculation happens on a frequent basis. Thanks.

    ? Codman and the rest of our insiders posted. While some of us are making educated guesses and others aren't, it still pertains to what was posted by the insiders in this thread. Why the superiority complex? I didn't get the memo that you were a moderator here.

    Substitute Granger for Deng, my proposal still works. Or leave Miami out of it, and send the Asik-Lin package to New York:

    Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin to New York;

    Tyson Chandler and filler (Ronnie Brewer) to Phoenix;

    Donatas Motiejunas and Emeka Okafor (expiring contract) to Indiana;

    Danny Granger, Iman Shumpert, Miles Plumlee, and Phoenix's 2014 first round pick to Houston.

    Or send Phoenix's pick to Indiana, and keep Motiejunas. But if you trade for Granger, is Motiejunas even going to play? I say a first round pick is always more valuable than a non-rotation guy. Plus, it's all about consolidating your assets.

    Shumpert gets all of your backup G minutes (I.e., he inherits Lin's minutes), Granger gets all of your backup F minutes, and Plumlee gets all of your backup C minutes. Eight man rotation.

    Agreed, if Morey is stubbornly refusing to trade Assik for peanuts, it's far more likely one or two minor moves are made, sniper, veteran wing, no big names, no roster shakeup, no one traded that we actually care to lose, perhaps a 2nd round pick being shipped out, and that's fine.

    The Rockets are a dangerous team, just a couple of utility players from being favored in the first and perhaps even the second round, it's not necessary to make radical changes this season. Only the threat of Assik acting like a cry baby is forcing Morey's hand.

    Guess I disagree. Also, I assume we would use our room exception and trade for other players to fill holes.

    Bosh is a starting power forward, backup center, and elite player in his own right. In the playoffs, our bench will shrink dramatically. Assuming Morey could trade picks and use the room exception to fill holes, you could have a pretty good team...

    Beverley / Brooks
    Harden / ?
    Parsons / Dunleavy
    Bosh / Dunleavy
    Howard / Bosh / Camby

    Too much of an injury risk.

    I'd rather try to make a move for Afflalo if there were any SG/SF we were going after before the deadline.

    Bosh is an elite player. People that post his stats kill me because I guarantee if you put him out there as a #1 option he'd kill teams be just has to play his role. If he somehow got to Houston I'd consider us a beyond legit contender but why the HELL would they trade him

    The problem is that team is worse than the current team.

    Red Hot 7 tickets

    Its a player swap of 7s

    Lowry for Lin

    He would be the hardnosed player...who IS currently the Jordan of his team. He would definitely not be a gunslinger...more of defensive playmaker.

    lowry 7 and lin 7

    Someone hot of volcanic porportions would just be an exaggerate term for really mad. This could be brooks or Beverly who would be furious at losing starting gig and or playing time? I dunno just guessing here. Or maybe lin because who wants to go to toronto. lol

    Maybe it will include asik and bring back Hayes or Amir Johnson

    This trade just makes too much sense. They can give back one of several bigs that would work. Hayes, Patterson, Amir Johnson... also salaries do not have to match because of Gays player exception. (also baragni exception)

    So we could trade Lin and Asik for Hayes and Lowry straight up.

    makes sense for Toronto too...they have the possiblity to keep both lin and asik. They can play Valencias at the 4.

    We're waiting for an "oracle" to tell us something like "The peanut butter airplane flies at dawn" so that we can sit around and try to figure out how that means that they are trading for Lebron.
