A freight train slammed into a big rig that was stuck on railroad tracks in Sugar Land late Monday morning. The truck had a cargo of two cars, one of them an antique Rolls Royce limousine.

The collision occurred about 11:30 a.m. on Brooks St. near U.S. 90A, said Doug Adolph, spokesman for the Sugar Land Police Department.

Adolph said no injuries were reported.

The trucker was trying to cross the railroad tracks when his low-profile auto-hauling trailer got struck on the raised rail bed, Adolph said. The trucker called 911 and climbed out of the truck's cab. Then he saw the train barreling toward his 18-wheeler.

Adolph said the train company, Kansas City Southern, was notified about the stuck truck, but the company could not alert the locomotive engineer in time for the train to stop.

The train, two engines and four rail cars, plowed into the truck's trailer.

It was not known what, if anything, the train was hauling, but no hazardous materials were spilled.

No way Royce would let anything other than a bus hit him.

Royce White refuses to cross train tracks until there is proper protocols implemented for doing such a high risk thing. #Bewell

isn't there some wireless sensor gizmo someone could have created by now that will detect/alert a train that there is something on a train tracks crossing and automatically (or warn) the train that they need to slow down and stop before the train crossing?

I believe the problem could be solved but it comes down to money. They would rather just keep hitting em than fix the problem.

On the one hand, these cars over here can drive themselves. On the other hand, these trains over here are so freaking stupid. ;)

Hell, their putting cameras up at seemingly every intersection there is these days. Maybe they could put some cameras up and have the trains get the feeds of crossings they are approaching or something?

I know...it's too much! Keep on hitting em...including float parades with veterans.

They put the burden on the drivers to cross safely but maybe the burden should be on the trains to know when it is safe to cross? There has got to be a better way.

A facebook friend took and posted this photo. The train had pushed it like 50 feet from the intersection he said.

(For those not familiar with Sugar Land, that's the old Imperial Sugar Cane Factory in the background.)
