    One word: toughness.

He had very good workout numbers but I have a feeling that his interviews and lack of toughness greatly concerned scouts.

Chase is just one of those players that when on, looks like he is just gliding on the court, but when things go bad, he disappears and doesn't seem to play with as much passion.

Although the box score may not reflect it, I think Taylor is the more NBA ready of the group.

He's very fluid, seems to be able to create his own shot, seems to have much faster reaction time than White, and is pesky on the defensive end.

Chase did well but I still think he's well behind Taylor in overall skill level.

Whatever it is, the team has a bunch of players that would and could help the in the future.

You're right, and I for one am really ok with maybe not being a playoff team if that means we're getting younger and more athletic. Look how quickly Portland turned it around, granted they had some higher draft picks.

I just hope Morey doesn't sign some crusty old verteran's!

He wont but he might need to trade some of the young players and players like Shane to build the front court. Need to give something of value to get something of value.

I liked Taylor too. He definitely looked like his hamstring still had a lingering effect on his performance. And yet he still did some thing that looked like they would translate to the NBA.

Also budinger's game while very different will work at the next level IMO. Not the driving so much but the pick and pop and open look quick release stuff. He is an athlete albeit not strong. Dorsey should contribute next year and as his defense gets better he will be even more of a contributor. Already he is blocking shots and slapping balls away.

White has been the biggest disappointment. He did play awesome D on curry. His handles are better than I thought but As DD said he is a linear type player. He has no lateral movement and his age that is not something that will get much better. It makes the difference from being a definite starter to just average. In his defense I do see him playing hard on defense and trying to play a team game and not just going one on one all the time. Also he has a good stroke although he missed alot yesterday. I hope he is just having early nervous jeters and will see some improvement soon.

Leunen is smart but probably not athletic enough to make the squad this year. Same for Newley. Conroy is okay for a 3rd pg maybe.

White top scorer for the first game, no article.
Chase, top scorer for the 2nd game, no article.
Dorsey, 2 games in a row where he got a double double. no article.

Taylor, did not shot well, only 2 assist and he got an article saying how good he is.

Is this a way to hype him up?

    BANDAID!! :D

Nice reference, DOD! I remember that boy. Problem with DC is that he had no left, couldn't finish in the lane and that jumper wouldn't fall...other than that, yeah, he could score! :)

Good call on Derek 'Band-aid' Chievous.

BTW - I pray to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that Taylor is nothing like DC.

He was the highest pick of the players mentioned.

Yeah that's what I immediately thought.

I feel sorry for Chase really. A top 10 high school recruit, goes to a top 10 basketball program, projected as a lottery after freshmen year, only to drop to the second round, and now when he dominates a SL game, people write an article about SOMEONE ELSE.

He will have his day. He just has to be consistent and articles would come. Sometimes its best to be below the radar and catch people by surprise. It also gives him less pressure to do good. He just has to play his game.

    Taylor didn't impress me.

Need to watch more games to make a judgment about him.

I thought Taylor was pretty solid considering he was hampered by a hamstring injury the day before. He showed some decent midrange and range in general, but I personally thought he displayed a Von Wafer-like mentaily aka scoring first, shoot second, then pass if all else fails.

I don't think this kid has 10% the arrogance Chievous had, though. I recall Derek showing up to a press conference with a Boston Celtics cap on. If I remember correctly, this was after he had been drafted by the Rockets - am I remembering that right? lol.

probably because he's not quick enough to play the 2 or strong enough to play the 3. he's stuck in the middle of those two positions. ball handling is good for his size but i doubt he will take anyone off the dribble. he could be a better version of jason kapono though.

Hey, give credit to ico4498 for bringing him up. But like I said, Taylor's ego is nowhere on the level of Chievous. Chievous came out of Missouri thinking he was unguardable. I wish Youtube existed back then. The sight of him getting whiplash as shot after shot of his would get rejected still makes me cringe. Not to turn this into a Derek Chievous thread, but I still recall him being interviewed by Mike Edmonds and Anita Martini of KPRC radio. He always used the phrase "pump up the volume" when trying to say something like he was trying to elevate his game. He would always pronounce "volume" like "valium", so it sounded like he was saying "pump up the valium". Mike Edmonds freaked on air and asked him to repeat what he said. After another line of questioning Edmonds was relieved and assured that he was trying to pump up his game and not shoot valium.

No, this just means that all the key guys will get articles this summer league. White had an article before summer league started. Leunen and Taylor had articles. Before the league ends, Budinger and Dorsey (and maybe Newley) will get featured by the chronicle. Bet on it.
