He will refuse this offer, and then become a restricted free agent. If there is a team to offer him full MLE, I think the rockets will do a sign-and-trade. Even no other team to make him an offer, the rockets still will offer him a multi years new contract.

I think he will take the ROXS offer becuz of the coaching staff , teammates, & oppurtunity to play. I always believe lots of players likes to play for Adelman!

Landry needs to play with a great playmaker (e.g., Tmac) because he cannot create his own shot. In fact, the number of teams with great playmakers and willing to offer him a good contract is limited.

he said he wants to return to Houston, so my guess is that he'll take a 8 million contract for 3 years for the Rox

No one has to be under the cap to offer MLE money. I doubt anyone offers him full MLE money. Landry had a good season but he is not an all star impact player. He is a very decent bench player or acceptable starter. He didn't beat out Scola so why should he get more money than Scola.

Unless someone offers him a large contract, I would think management offers him late lottery money which is around 2 mil to start. I think it is possible he could be involved in a sign and trade deal for the right player. But with Yao Scola Dorsey and Landry the Rockets have one of the toughest and biggest set of bigs in the league.

He's got to go measure his worth in the free agent market, but I fully expect him back here next season at a reasonable price.

I like Carl, but I don't think I'd give him anywhere close to the full MLE. Maybe half.

WTF is Fran talking about? If we had a team option on Landry, there'd be no discussion or speculation about re-signing Landry this summer. The team would just exercise their option on him and push the contract negotiations into next year.

That doesn't make any sense either. If Landry did have an option, then it would be coming up right now, and obviously the Rockets would pick it up. Blinebury must have mispoken about the team option. If the team had an option on Landry, his status would be set, and we could all move on for a year.

The problem is if we spend the MLE.

I'd rather get this sorted sooner than later!

We might wait all off-season for everyone else to spend their MLE, then Landry is ours for whatever we offer (unless he chooses to sit out a season) - but doing that requires us to have the MLE 'intact' - ie, we can't persue any other FAs with it...

Morey will sort it out I'm sure!

On factor that many here are forgetting is that, once Landry is re-signed, he may be a Base Year Compensation player. This means that the Rockets cannot take back his new salary in a trade; rather, they can only take back his old salary. While I'm not exactly sure, this might make it VERY difficult to do any trade involving a S&T of Landry.

I also noticed that Landry's exact situation (one-year contract, non-salary scale rookie) is not covered in Larry Coon's FAQ explanation off BYC status. It could be that Landry will be considered an "untradeable" free agent.

It would be nice to get some clarification on this point from the Rockets organization.

Since Landry was selected in the 2nd rookie team, the rockets should offer him a contract around no. 6 - 10 pick's salary.

if you let it be know that you'll match whatever offer he recieves i know alot of teams wont offer it cz their offer hinders them from offering to other players or something for a few weeks

im not sure what the rules are to be exact but i know its something along those parameters or something
