I have choices I like better than all these for the LLE--if Kittles or Houston checks out physically, Spree, Demarr or Buckner (whoever the Nugs don't sign), Gerald Wallace, Hansen, Rush, Devin Brown, etc. I have much larger concerns with how the players mentioned at the top would affect team chemistry. Payton can be a jerk, never had a good jumper, and now has one worse than Sura's. NVE is brittle, can't play defense, and I am not sure how effective he will be without the ball. I'd take him for the vet min in a heart beat, but I'd wait out a lot of options before giving him a 2 year LLE for sure. Also, DA's shooting has gone way south along with his athleticism the last few years, all that seems left is a shell of the athletic player he once was with a lot of bitterness mixed in.
Sure.... If he plays 10 more years. Hakeem's got practically 800 blocks on Deke. That means that Mutombo would have to average about 4.8 bpg over the next two years. Hakeem's record is pretty safe. Edit:Looks like Dave2000 included playoff blocks in his estimation, when I only put in regular season numbers. Either way, Mutombo isn't going to pass Hakeem.
Blasphemy! Mutumbo can do whatever he wants to and I think he wants to average 5.91 blocks per game for two years.
As rox fans, I think we should all root for deke to average 4.7bpg for the next two years and fall just shy of hakeem's record. Right?
61 days until the first preseason game, I would guess training camp would start 7-10 days before that, so 51-54 days from 8/11. 7-8 weeks.
"I think there's no reason why we can't make a run at this thing," Barry said. "Last, if Juwan (Howard) was healthy, I think our season would have ended up different. I think we would have gotten by that first-round series and advanced. With the addition of Stromile (Swift) and hopefully with Juwan healthy, I see no reason we can't do something special. All the pieces are here." Here we go again...
DEKE! Glad to have you back Finger Wag! I am one hell of a happy camper right now. I am loving this offseason. Go Rockets!
This is a good day, Astros win and the Great Mutombo decides to remain a Rocket. We are truly blessed.
Well, it would be nice for Mutombo to finish 2nd all-time in blocks when his career is over so it would be Rocket centers holding 1-2 in All-Time Blocks!
at 15 minutes a game? that man would have to be swatting balls on offense and defense to catch up to hakeem.
Great news, I can't really see a mis step this summer for the Rockets, well there is still the PG spot but overall a very productive summer.
Not only do I relish the thought of Barry and Deke retiring as Rockets, but I'd love to see them part of the organization for years to come. Can't you just see Barry as the rah-rah Assistant Coach who fires up the troops? Not to mention the "shooting coach" folks have clamored for for years? And Deke as the Big Man specialist? OK, so someone besides Deke would have to coach the big men on offense ...
I feel this team can go to war right now. Any additions are gravy. p.s. Santa, thanx for my early xmas gifts, JB and DK ! ( come december I'm gonna be luving those 2 guys..in a manly way of course ! )
Here we go again with posts that blows player's quotes out of any reasonable proportion. What Barry said there wasn't taunting, or trash-talking. He was saying what many other players have already said. Barry may have given the other teams some extra inspiration in the past, but this quote isn't an example of that. I don't think players are expected to say they expect the team to end up out of the race.
We can get to the 2nd round as is. We need to look at a true pg and also check out the lux tax casualities. This is gonna be a GREEEAAAT season.
